Once upon a time I would have described this as the best coffee shop in the north of England. The cheesecake is great! The ciabatta and foccacia sandwiches are really good, amongst my favourites are the Milanese and the Genovese! And the best selling point the coffee!

However, this is where I have to stop singing its praises, over recent months the place has gone down hill as more and more new staff have come on board delivering sloppier and slower service. They don’t care generally about the service they provide and this is a great shame. For now I have redirected my coffee drinking to Laynes Espresso Bar near the Railway Station where the service tends to be quicker and better.

To gain any respect from me the service at La Bottega Milanese is going to have to improve, At the best coffee shop in the UK, Bar Italia, they pride themselves on great coffee in much the same way that La Bottega Milanese does. They pride themselves on good food again much in the same way. However, for a busy city centre coffee shop like Bar Italia they pride themselves on good, fast efficient service that doesn’t happen at La Bottega Milanese.

Cheap food and cheap beer, what else can you say!

Food and drink is very good.Recommend the Chimmichangas. Service is good. Always very busy, recommend reservations if possible - even if you think it will be quiet!

Burger King over the Golden Arches everytime (apart from breakfast).

serve fresh fruit drinks. I’ve honestly avoided this place after seeing a member of staff not wash their hands after using the toilet.

Service can be slow. Allow yourself plenty of time if your heading to see a movie at Cineworld. Otherwise food is ok and staff are friendly.
