Metro Fish Bar - Springside
2 Overton Road, Springside, Irvine, Scotland KA11 3BG
13-11-2011
Recently reopened under new management and new name, the Metro Fish Bar is a convenient and handy plaice to go for the good of your sole and at a price you cod afford any day of the week.Formerly a tandoori takeaway this bar is a great alternative to your local chinese takeaway. All tastes and appetites catered for. From kingsize fish suppers to giant multitopped pizzas the range just goes on and on.One particular dish that I can recommend is the black pudding supper which can either be served as a complete black pudding halved or cut up into bite sized chunks alongside enough chips to satisfy the hungriest of appetites. The pizzas are available in three different sizes of 10",12" and 14",all of which can have your own created topping to suit.Dont venture into this place unless you take your appetite with you as even a simple chip roll has enough chips to keep you going till the cows come home!!

Situated in the forum centre this open plan cafe is handy if your in need of a cup of tea or something to eat while in the town shopping.Where its placed means that it gets all the passing trade from the other stalls and shops in the forum so its usually quite busy but then again its busy cos its good value for money and they do serve tasty food and drinks.Pay a visit if you're in town -you wont be disappointed.
Harveys Furnishing Group - Irvine
2 Riverway Retail Park, Riverway, Irvine, Scotland KA12 8AG

Looking for a new suite or a dining table and chairs?Give Harveys in Irvine a try to see how this local branch of the national chain can give you the furniture of your dreams for a fraction of the cost that you would expect to pay.For quality of goods and a great price I think you'll find that its the only place you will need to visit .The store itself is extremely well planned and laid out with a great deal of thought put into to make choosing your new furniture as easy as possible.Staff are well trained and knowledgeable and are happy to help with any queries.I can recommend Harveys in Irvine and I'm sure if you give them a chance you would recommend them to family and friends too.
Springside Bargain Stores - Springside
4 Overtoun Road, Irvine, Scotland KA11 3BG
20-07-2010
Springside Stores is part of the local Premier store group located bang in the middle of the village of surprisingly enough Springside.Open from 6.15am six days a week Monday to Saturday, and 7.15am on Sundays, its a convenient place to pick up your everday necessities.I like that there have special offers which you are likely to want or need rather than ones that the company chooses to put on.currently they have great deals like 500ml of Ribena-buy one get one free.Cadbury's 3pks of Dairy Milk,Crunchie and Dairy Milk Caramel only £1 each.Maynards priced marked £1 sweets such as midget gems, wine gums, chocolate eclairs all any 2 for £1.50.Now if they are not bargains you wouldn't buy then I dont know what you would regard as great deals.Staff usually quite friendly and helpful but at times when the shop gets busy at say times like when school has finished then the staff can tend to be a bit grumpy with the kids but as a rule they are normally ok .The place is ok for some bargains and normal day to day stuff but for a main shop you really need to go into the local towns .
Celay Hotel - Ovacik
Ovacik
13-07-2010
What can I say about this fantastic place in the lovely village of Ovacik,Turkey that could be at all negative? The answer is sorry I cant. With 46 rooms and 2 family rooms the Celay boasts a capacity of 118 guests when fully occupied. The name of the hotel itself is a combination of letters from the owners names ie CEL from Celal and AY from Ayten(husband and wife).Newly refurbished in the winter of last year the Celay has added 42 new rooms.
The facilities available at this extremely friendly and welcoming hotel include bar, kids garden, inside and outside restaurants, room service, safety deposit boxes.
All rooms are fitted out with air conditioning and all have a shower, toilet and balcony.
There are 2 pools at this complex including one of the biggest pools in Turkey at 300m2,with a kids pool for safe paddling specially for the wee ones.
A fully fitted gymnasium is available for the use of by both resident and non residents alike. This topped off with a billiard room ,table tennis, darts and beach volleyball court and you can see why this place is such a big hit with all who visit or stay there.
With a pool bar situated right in the middle of the hotel you can imagine how popular it gets particularly in the middle of the day when the weather gets a bit on the too warm side to stay in the sun.
An outdoor jacuzzi is a welcome relief for tired bones and sunburnt bodies.
I can recommend that if you are ever in the area of Ovacik which is only a few minutes drive from the popular towns of Hisaronu and Fethiye in southern Turkey then you HAVE to visit the totally delightful place they call Celay Hotel,I promise you will not be disappointed.
Fairways - Irvine
42 Bridgegate, Irvine, Scotland KA12 8BQ
09-02-2010
If golf is your game then give Fairways a visit if you need some extra golf balls or tees. From starter sets for the novice to full sets suitable for the keen amateur or even pro then its all available at this bright and welcoming shop.If you cant find your particular or specific item then they will do their upmost to order it for you.Golf shoes for both women and men golfers alike are also in stock. At times you can always pick up a bargain at sales time. The only thing they cant guarantee is that it will turn you into a golfer fit enough for the Open but at least you can play to your best ability knowing that you've been kitted out from your local onestop golf shop.
Walmsley Furnishing - Irvine
138 High Street, Irvine, Scotland KA12 8AH
09-02-2010
Nestled in between a book makers and post office/spar in the High Street this place is very rarely busy.I dont know whether its the fact that its not as well known a brand as some other furniture shops or that it seems to try and cram as much stock into as small a space as possible that puts people off going in.Its not as if they dont have reasonably good prices for their funiture or that they dont have plenty of range (ie see earlier) I cant quite put my finger on it but there just seems to be something stopping the people of Irvine using the store to the extent that other furniture stores are.
The Garage - Kilmarnock
34-36 Grange Street, Kilmarnock, Scotland KA1 2DD
09-02-2010
The Garage offers a multi function complex from 10 pin bowling alleys to gocarts from disco with karaoke nights to a conference suite upstairs. What more could you ask in kilmarnock for a corporate event to suit all ages and tastes in entertainment. The disco does get to say the least bloody busy on a Saturday night, but thats not to say you cant still have a good time.
Irvine Park Bowling Club - Irvine
Woodlands Avenue, Irvine, Scotland KA12 0PZ
09-02-2010
One of a few bowling clubs in irvine but in my opinion the best by far.Has all the facilities you would expect from a bowling club like 2 tremendous bowling greens which are kept in an immaculate condition throughout the bowling season and beyond. In addition to its perfect playing surfaces it also has a fantastic social club which holds a fair few nights to remember throughout the year.A very successful club Irvine Park has picked up quite a haul of trophies in its time. Its well worth a visit if you're in town but its best if you know a member to sign you in.
