The Pontefract Castle - Marylebone
73 Wigmore Street, Mayfair, London W1U 1QB

(updated on 16-04-2009)
Great little pub and a firm favourite for a beer at lunch time or after work. It has four floors including a wine cellar type basement complete with its own bar. There’s a seating area outside and it’s location is perfect at the top of St Christophers Walk and a stones throw from Oxford Street. There’s a good range of beers including plenty of real ales and mulled wine/cider in winter. The food is pretty good too.
Dabbelju All facts right but Qype put this pub wrongly into Mayfair.
It is in Marylebone.

Starbucks Coffee - Coventry
52 Broadgate, Coventry, West Midlands CV1 1NF
22-11-2008
Everything you’d expect from a starbucks really. Good coffee, some nice looking cakes and a busy chatty atmosphere. Being the only starbucks in the city centre this is a bit of a victim of its own success and is always too full and busy.
Big Chill Bar - Whitechapel
Dray Walk Dray Walk, Off Brick Lane, London E1 6QL

This bar is fantastic. I went on a Friday night and although it was very busy and full there was a great atmosphere, some good music and a nice mix of people. There’s plenty of seating and I imagine on a weeknight it’s pretty easy to get a seat because it’s a big venue. There is also a large beer garden out the front which would be good in summer or at any time for smokers.
MoneySavingExpert.com - West Kensington
Shepherds Studios, Rockley Road, London W14 0DB

Naming a website the best on the whole web is a bold claim, but in this case I think it’s true. MSE is absolutely amazing and the main reason I discovered qype. I’ve saved so much money both through the weekly emails and the wonderfully helpful forumers. Check it out, you won’t be disappointed.
Colosseum Nightclub - Coventry
Primrose Hill Street, Coventry, West Midlands CV1 5LY
21-11-2008
The colly used to be the best and only nightclub in Coventry worth going to. Now however, as kasbah, it is a shadow of its former self and after experiencing the worst night out of my life there a couple of months ago I have vowed never to go back, as by the looks of it (from a near empty club) have a lot of people.
The George Inn - London Bridge
77 Borough High Street, Southwark, London SE1 1NH

A lovely beautiful pub full of history. This place is absolutely great after you’ve spent a day at borough market (2 minutes walk away) and then come for a few quiet pints. Particularly good in summer with its big courtyard.
Inspire Cafe - Coventry
New Union Street, Christchurch Spire, Coventry, West Midlands CV1 2PS

The coolest bar in Coventry and the only place worth going if you want a decent night out without the hassle of a club. Great music with some excellent dj’s, friendly staff and an excellent range of bottled beers in beautiful surroundings.
Browns Independent Bar - Coventry
Earl Street, Coventry, West Midlands CV1 5RU
21-11-2008
Similar to other reviewers, this place has a number of sides to it. The food is excellent, as can be the atmosphere in the evenings. However, the door policy is notorious and while it keeps out the idiots it also keeps out a number of other people who just want a quiet night out in what is, from a design point of view, one of the best looking bars in Coventry. The musical taste of the place can also be a little eclectic to say the least and as a bar for the evening it has definitely gone down hill over the past couple of years. Great day time cafe bar though.
The Golden Cross - Coventry
8 Hay Lane, Coventry, West Midlands CV1 5RF
21-11-2008
The cross isn’t the cleanest venue inside but the building itself has a lot of character and charm. A quieter bar downstairs and a dark, dank live music venue upstairs which you normally have to pay to get into. The beer is cheap and some of the bands I’ve seen there have been absolutely brilliant. Definitely worth a go if you like live bands.
Escape - Coventry
Hales Street, Coventry, West Midlands CV1 1JA

Decent little bar based in the old firestation by the transport museum in Coventry. It has quite a good atmosphere and the mix of people is nice. Friendly bar staff and plenty of seating, particularly nice on a sunny day.
