My friends and I were pleasantly surprised with this typical British pub. If you come to London as a tourist and want to enjoy dinner and drinks in a true English atmosphere, this is the perfect place. We were the only foreigners in the pub, yet we were nicely welcomed and not looked upon at all. We enjoyed the place a lot, it was really nice to be in place designed for locals and not for exclusively touristic purpose. Slightly out of the center but not to far either, it is close to a serie of hotels, a couple of minutes from the Susssex Garden bus stop.
The pub is quite spacious, with two large wooden rooms decorated in a cosy and retro way, and a yard in the front with tables you can sit at when the weather allows it. The staff is very nice and service is as fast as it can be.
The food was delicious and quite unexpensive. We went there on a Saturday night, there was a barbecue in the front yard. I had chicken and vegetables kebab served with a pita bread and salad. Meat and veggies were grilled directly on the barbecue. Quality was excellent, quantity was way sufficient; it was not your usual kebab with two peppers and a half and three pieces of meat, it was two long kebabs of various fresh vegetable and perfectly grilled chicken with a nicely spicy dressing. My friends had cheeseburgers and were very satisfied as well. The pub serves fish and chips during the week, but not during the week end, so they said.
There was a good variety of beer and ale, as well as several stronger alcohols and wine. We had three glasses of ale for 4 pounds and a half, which is quite unexpensive for London.
All in all, I recommend this pub for dinner and drinks before going out to a club, as we spent a very nice evening, and will certainly come back next time we are in London.

I spent a week end in London with two friends and we stayed at the Pavilion Hotel for three reasons : it was not far from the center, it was quite unexpensive for its location (100 pounds for one night in a room for three), and the deco looked really kitsch and original from the website. We didn’t regret our choice at all.
Every room is decorated in a different way, around a special theme. We stayed in the room “Three’s Company”, the room with three twin beds, decorated in a nice, cosy English way with a kitsch twist, with light, faded teal flooring and walls, floral curtains, beaded hanging and wall lights, and a bright teal ceiling sprinkled with gold painting. The room is quite small, but there is enough space for the three beds, a closet, an additional mirror and two (or maybe three) small nightstands. There is a large window, opening on a small balcony. There is also a marble chimney and a television. The beds are confortable, with sheets, blankets and pillows. The room included a small en-suite bathroom with a shower, sink, mirror and toilets. The bathroom is plastic, the kind you find in mobil-homes and boats, but confortable, we had warm water for the three of us.
Breakfast is included in the price. It is a continental breakfast, with, for each person, a croissant, a chocolate muffin, an individual pack of cornflakes, a glass of orange juice and a pot of milk. The room includes an electric tea kettle and a bag of tea for each person, as well as sugar, milk doses and powder coffee. You can schedule breakfast at any desired time, the staff will leave it on a tray in front of your door without waking you up in case you would like to sleep some more.
The staff was very nice, friendly and helpful. The room was perfectly clean. TV was working, with around 15 channels available. We didn’t order room service, but several drinks and foods are available.
The hotel is in a calm street, Sussex Garden, in a row of several hotel, next to bus stop Sussex Garden. There is a very friendly pub in the same street (the Monkey Puzzle) where you can have dinner and drinks, as well as several grocery stores (one of which is open 24/7) and a pharmacy nearby.
We had a very nice stay in this hotel and will certainly come back next time we go to London. I warmly recommend it.
