Borders Southampton - Southampton

Nice large bookshop based in the West Quay Retail Park, so there is lots of parking. This store is nice and bright and has every possible book you could need as well as a paperchase for stationary and card needs and a Starbucks! You can also buy gifts, magazine and board games here.
This is one of my favourite places to come when I need to have a meeting at work with someone, you can grab a coffee and sit in the Starbucks area. As well as this you can just come, grab a coffee and read a book and people watch out the window! Bliss
The staff and helpful and friendly and they are really interested in books!

South American Steak House, new to Southampton. On the main High Street next to Zen close to the night life. Has a fair amount of parking around it but not loads.
It has some of the best steak we have ever eaten and it is cooked to perfection. The staff are friendly and it has a very American type atmosphere.
Two people in our party tried a steak trio which is three different cuts of steak, which they said was amazing. I had the lamb chops which were beautifully cooked and the home made chips are really nice.
This place was not cheap but the food was worth the price we paid.
The Taste Of Thailand - Southampton

Lovely little Thai Restaurant located slightly off the main high street in Southampton, opposite a car park and next to the back entrance of West Quay Shopping Centre.
Small and family run with a nice atmosphere. I have been on a few dates here when I first got with my partner and it is a nice intimate place to get to know someone.
The menu is small but all the food is good quality, especially the Thai soups. It is one of the cheapest Thai’s in Southampton but one of the best quality. If there is something not on the menu you want, just ask and they will make it for you. As well as this they will make things just as you like them.

I visited here with some friends and have to say this is the best restaurant I have eaten in in a while. Wonderful food, wonderful atmosphere and really nice staff. You can sit upstairs or downstairs and there is live music. It has the feeling of eating with friends at a house, really warm.
I had crocodile for starters and duck for main and it was amazing. It is not cheap but the food is well worth it. My partner had the sweet potato curry and he cleared his plate! The puddings were to die for and the ice cream was homemade.
I wouldn’t hesitate to go back here again.
Kuti's Brasserie - Southampton

Nice tradition Indian restaurant located on Oxford Street. Looks impressive from the outside and the inside and the food is wonderful.
I have eaten here both al a carte and buffet and both were wonderful and reasonably priced. The staff were nice, the atmosphere good and the seating is comfortable.
The restaurant is in an ideal location for nightlife afterwards and there is a casino opposite. There is a lot of parking and it is a pleasant area to walk around.
They have opened a new restaurant down on the pier called Kuti also but it serves Thai food, I have only had the buffet but this was not good!

Brilliant shop that sells ladies occasion ware. Based at the bottom of East Street opposite Debenhams, so parking is not great.
All the dresses are laid out by colour, so if you know what colour you want this is ideal. Most of the girls in Southampton attending a ball or event will get dresses from here. The excellent thing about this shop though is that they will keep a list of all the girls buying dresses and the event they are attending so no two people at one event will have the same dress! Genius!
Would also be good for bridesmaid dresses and it looks like they are opening a bridal shop next door!.
Spiral Stone Chemist - Southampton
122 Brintons Road, Southampton, Hampshire SO14 0DB

A late night chemist that is open on periods that other chemists don’t, like Christmas, new year etc.
As well as being a chemist it has lots of afro Caribbean hair products and cosmetics. This chemist is also where most people come when they want clip in hair extensions. They take you to a little room out the back which is a room full of hair! Every colour, style and size! They will also help you colour match it to your own hair as well!
When it comes to actual medical items they sometimes try to sell you the most expensive thing rather than the best thing! So watch out!
For hair products and stuff Brilliant
For medical stuff not so great

Used to be quite a nice shopping centre when I was a kid. Now it is pretty empty with not much going on which is a shame.
They still have the half price jewellers, which has been there for years as has the newsagents. There are few new shops but they now have an urban clothing store which has clothes that are hard to get in the U.K and a catalogue seconds shop. Never seems very busy and always just has people sitting around.
Just outside the door is Debenhams and two restaurants which are okay to eat in when you are shopping.
Feel quite sad really because my grandparents used to bring me here as a child when there was a bakery and a place for children’s birthday parties. Aww Nostalgia!

Little restaurant on the corner of Oxford Street. Parking is ample and the outside of the building is impressive.
Presents itself as a 'Gourmet Indian Dining’ Restaurant and by look and portion size it is probably right!!
When dining here be prepared for non-traditional Indian dining as this is what it is.
The food is really nice but the portion size for the price is disappointing. My partner had the baby squid for starter which he said was beautiful but because of the size and price he would not rush to eat it again! For the main I had the Amnah which was 'A mild creamy dish with mango slices and coconut milk to give a smooth texture’, I didn’t like this at all as the mango was too much and too sweet. Again the portion was really small.
The service seemed too quick almost as if we were being rushed out the door and the atmosphere was quite pretentious.
I wouldn’t rush to eat here again.
Gymophobics - Southampton
60 Commercial Road, Southampton, Hampshire SO15 1GD

Ladies only gym in Southampton. Part of a chain that has recently opened up throughout the country.
Runs on a circuit type workout where members act as your personal trainers and keep an eye on you while you are training. There are 10 stations and you use each one for 3 minutes making it a 30 minute work out which they recommend you do 3-4 times a week.
When you first join up you are accessed and giving a 10 week programme based on what it is you want to achieve, for example weight loss, toning, better mobility.
Then after 10 weeks you are access again to check how you are getting on. This is done in an extremely friendly way and you are never made to feel bad or as if you have failed.
Really friendly gym, worth joining if you find it hard to get motivated. The only problem is the lack of parking and what there is is expensive.
