This hotel dos no favours for itself from the outside, it is far more elegant and pleasant indoors.
We went on the spur of the moment for afternoon tea, as one does. OK, so it’s not the Ritz! A bit less formal here, but the staff are very polite. The Danish pastry was very good, and the tea tasted as it should.
The view from the south side of the lounge overlooks the chain ferry to Studland and has views reaching out to the open sea. It is rather nice to watch the rolling on and off. An ambulance came to Sandbanks on the ferry with a blue light! Much quicker than driving around the harbour!
There is a long conservatory to one side, which appears to stretch the whole length of the hotel. It has a pretty effect and gives a sense of calm.
I cannot comment on the accommadation.
There seem to be no arrows in the car park so negotiating other moving vehicles is a bit hit and miss, so to speak.

This is my favourite beach in Poole. We refer to the beaches by their location or access, though really it’s almost one beach all around the peninsular of Sandbanks (the fifth most sought after des res in the world).
Shore Road is best accessed by bike or on foot as all the parking there is for Blue badge holders.
There are a couple of cafes and toilets. Have never been in the toilets so far, so I’m not able to comment on them.
The sand is pale and very fine so you can mold yourself a nice 'pillow’.
It is usually fairly busy, but we tend to go at about four, so the people are thinning out.
On a bright day you can see a bit of the Isle of Wight.
The water is fairly clear, with lots of shells, and doesn’t get too deep too quickly, so it’s great for children.
The lifeguards are RNLI trained, so pretty tip top. And they will tell people off!!
I’ve never seen big waves here, but surfers do come…. I guess they’re so adrenalin hungry that their hope never dies.
Or may be they know something I don’t.
I never take sandwiches on the beach - cereal bars, and snacks but nothing in which sand can get lodged! Too many of those already. We always take water, lots.
By the time we go the water has some warmth, and it’s a fun relaxing time.
As one leaves, conveniently, there are ice creams on sale (we use the small kiosk) and a parapet to sit on whilst watching the sun burned make their way home.
Please be careful in the sun!Photos courtesy of bassoongb
