This is our favorite Carvery bay far, it’s our yardstick for others (though we haven’t tried any other Toby yet). I’ve no problem with the rustic decor as it adds to the old y world y experience, it’s clean and hygienic, this is what’s important. I’ve no problem with the meat portions (what do people expect) but I have found the turkey a little dry and have occasionally found the beef difficult to chew so I go for the gammon and pork. The large variety of roast spuds (oh those roast spuds), mash and veg is what does it for me and cooked to perfection, everything is full of flavor. Only once have I been and things were a little dry but I guess this will happen elsewhere when you visit at the end of a quiet period.

We called in yesterday after being recommended by a friend, parking was tight but the place was very busy. Inside the the Crown is very spacious with a lot of tables. The decor is modern, open, clean and the atmosphere is friendly as are the staff. You can choose your own table at your leisure then you purchase your meal token from the bar with drinks if you’re drinking, I like this method as you can leave when you’ve finished instead of waiting for the bill. The carvery selection is large, the meat is generous and you can have pie or sausages if you fancy a change to the meat. All food seems like it is kept fresh, three lots of veg were changed while I was serving myself. Personally, we found the food tasted a little bland, no where near as tasty as our local haunt. Excellent place, excellent value, food could be tastier.
