Reasonably priced roadside cafe with splendid mountain views

Had a great meal here with the family. All of our food was good traditional pub grub. I had the steak and ale pie and can honestly say I’ve never had so much steak in a pie. It was cooked to perfection. The gammon and egg was also really good as was the steak. Pub had a good atmosphere and everything was reasonably priced.

Sherwood pines cycles is a well stocked shop in the centre of sherwood pines forest park. There is a good selection of bikes to hire with kids bikes and tagalongs for the kids or full suspension demo bikes from the likes of Orange if you want something more serious. They have a wide selection of bikes for sale from Orange, Cube, Scott, and Merida and with trails on the doorstep you can normally arrange to try before you buy. The staff are helpful and knowledgeable and will make sure you get what you want not what they need to shift. They have a workshop and good mechanic if you manage to break your bike whilst out on the trails and the service prices are reasonable and comprehensive.

We have often passed this hotel in the heart of the peak district and promised ourselves that one day we would stay there. Well this week we keep our promise and although we don’t often pay that much for a nights stay we think it was worth the wait.
we stayed in a superior room which was quite the largest room I’ve ever stayed in. Four poster king sized bed two sofas a chair desk big screen flat tv you name this room had it. Some of the furnishing and antiques in the rooms have come from the nearby Chatsworth house and the short walk to the house from the hotel is a good way to work up an appetite for the fantastic restaurant. We really wanted this hotel to live up to our expectations and thankfully it did.

A small but well used gym with free weights cardio machines (about 3 of each) and weight machines that have seen better days. The gym seemed popular. And there is a separate room for step classes etc. didn’t use the pool but it looked nice not sure how practical for serious swimming
Well I’ve used the pool now and it is quite nice although a little warm for serious swimming but then most will not use it for this so I’m going to add another stat

Great steaks. Can be ordered three sizes although the small was more than enough for my appetite. Well cooked to your liking. But a bit cheeky charging extra for fries so loses one star.

Great old fashioned sweet shop every sweet you could imagine you can get here. The only problem I have is getting my daughter to decide what she wants.

We visited as a family whilst on holiday. The location is great right on Frejus beech with great views of the bay. The traditional open pizza oven tempted us to try a pizza whilst my son went for the set 3 course (29euro) and my daughter had the moules frites. I don’t know if it’s a French thing or a lack of communication between the pizza chef and main kitchen but we ended up with our pizzas before our son had got his first course, which being soup was a bit disappointing. The restaurant lacked ambiance despite the views and being quite full. Finally it was relatively expensive for what you got no doubt due to the prime location
