Stopped in the tea room for lunch, which was served quite quickly. I had a chicken stew, which was pretty tasty, if rustic to look at. The chicken thigh had the bone left in, which may well have added to the flavour, but when served in a mini tureen was a bit awkward to eat. Despite a big blackboard outside proclaiming their fresh bread, the bread that accompanied the stew seemed very much like a normal slice of brown, which was a bit disappointing.

The balcony over the river is a pleasant place for a drink, though it's quite close to the road. There is often sport of some kind on the screens inside. There's also a proper plinky-plonky pub piano in here, which is worth knowing if you have friends who demand a pub that has a piano.

Ate here on a Monday evening, which just happens to be "half price wine" night. Enjoyed the food and the wine. It's worth checking the website and Twitter feed to find out what's on. A very handy location for meeting up with people, with the rail station and the Frideswide Square bus stops close by.

I really like this place, beautiful stone work, good tea and a tasty selection of hot dishes plus salad. The scones were tender, served with proper jam (not flavourless red goo) and a generous amount of proper cream. The staff on the serving counter are friendly. It can get busy at weekends, which can make getting your tray through the tightly packed seating a bit precarious.

This is my new favourite museum. I love the architecture, the metal work roof inside is beautiful and there's columns which you'll see are also a bit of a geological display. There's some live insects as well as fantastic collections of preserved specimens, a bee hive where you can watch bees coming and going. Its really interesting to see museum displays that also tell you something about the current work of the University research into zoology and ecology as well. It is a lovely place to dip into or spend hours in.

Whether you're in need of a delicious sandwich to munch immediately, something to enjoy at home or a little foody gift, International Cheese provides it. Friendly faces and cheese samples lifted my day.
