Real Tea and Coffee served in china cups or mugs. Toast or Toasted Tea-cakes on offer or if you are really adventurous there is orange squash or Vimto.

Quiet and peaceful atmosphere where you can sit in the wood beamed vestry of Leigh Parish Church and have an unhurried cuppa. Delightful.

Scrupulously clean including the toilets. Great prices, large coffee and toasted tea-cake is only £1

Usual range of DIY and gardening stuff in this DIY shed but why is there never anyone on the check-outs?

This store has 3 check-outs but I have never seen any of them manned, they are usually blocked with stock on trolleys. You have to pay for everything at Customer Services, so of anyone has a query, or is returning something, there are long queues. They will do their admin work or answer the phone rather than serve you.

There is never anyone to ask for advice either, the staff seem to hide away.

Love KFC but this restaurant is often dirty, the tables go uncleared, the tables are often dirty even after they have been cleared, rubbish on the floor.

You don’t expect good customer service at KFC, but this one is particularly bad, and the food is often over-cooked. Counter service is often over-looked while they concentrate on the drive through.

Below average Chip Shop/Chinese take-away.

There are never queues in this shop, which tells you something about the standard of food.

The Chinese menu is below average, not very well cooked. Due to the lack of customers the chips are kept warm for a long time, and often re-fried.

Former Alldays shop, recently refurbished. Sells a range of Magazines, food, drink, tobacco etc.

Although it is quite a large shop the range of food on offer is limited, especially the fresh food. It is not somewhere you could do your weekly shopping, its more of a place to get last minute items you have forgotten.

The store is bright and clean, but the staff can’t be bothered. Although they are open till 10pm, if you arrive after 9pm, you are likely to find the automatic sliding door turned off, and a grumpy staff member, or unwelcoming security guard, grudgingly letting you in. They also put the covers down on the fridge section well before closing time, so don’t be late if you want any milk or chilled food. I’ve even been in there when the Manager has been shouting at people to “hurry up” with their shopping 10 - 15 minutes before closing time.

If you are lucky, when there are 3 or 4 people queuing at the till someone might come over and start serving you. They also will often ignore you while serving you, and talk over you to their friends in the queue behind you.

Although this is now a sub-post office, it used to be a Crown Post Office and so is quite large, with 5 counters.

At busy times it is well staffed, so the queues are not too long. The staff are always pleasant, know their services, helpful and efficient.

Also sells a range of Greetings cards, toys and gifts as well as sweets, and has a digital photo-booth. Outside there is a phone box, and stamp dispenser.

You can tell how good the food is at this Fish and chip shop by the queues but they are very efficient at getting your order out so you don’t have to wait too long.

The food is always freshly cooked, they use raw, not frozen, fish, and their chips are made from fresh potatoes, not frozen.

This tiny shop sells the best fish and chips for miles around.

Also available are fishcakes, sausages, beans, peas, potato scallops and Hollands pies and puddings.

Smaller Asda with much smaller range of non-food items than some nearby Asdas. notably the Burnden Park Asda which is not too far away.

Parking can be difficult. The store is often untidy with opened boxes, fruit and veg on the floor etc. Even some of the checkouts can be awkward to negotiate with oddly placed pillars.

Cineworld is my cinema of choice although it is not the nearest to my home.

This is because it has reasonable prices, free parking, comfortable seating, mostly large screens with good viewing angles. The theatres are clean and well heated. There is a good bar too.
