Well, it's my place so I would say this - but the Draft House Northcote rocks. Seventeen beers on draft and 50+ in bottle, good honest food, great art. What's not to like?
The ox-tongue fritters are not to be missed.

FCourt, thanks so much for your review and I am glad that we are geting some things right (I am the commercial director of Le Cafe Anglais). I am also delighted that your second experience was an improvement on the first - at least we appear to heading in the right direction…
As a new restaurant I like to think that we can always improve and make great efforts to do so - complacency is the death of any business.
One thing I felt I should clarify regards the reviews below. It is true that not all are completely impartial as I asked a number of friends and regular customers to write a review and was thrilled that they did so. Looking at it from the outside I can see it looks a bit of a stich-up so I thought it appropriate to explain in this forum.
Finally, the full page in the FT. Again an explanation is required. My partner - and our head chef - Rowley Leigh writes the weekly food column in the FT Weekend section. Thus when they learned of his plans to open a new restaurant they requested the article you saw (full text at http://www.lecafeanglais.co.uk/history.asp).
Once agin thanks for the feedback and do let us know how you fare with the omelette. Mr Leigh believes he makes a good one - but the customer is always king!
fcourt Thank you for the comment on my review. If you ask friends to review Le Cafe Anglais genuinely this is fine but note that reviewers writing a signle review do not tend to be given too much credit by the Qype community compared to people who share their best (and worst) tips across the board. Hopefully Qype will be able to convert some of those people and get them to contribute more reviews and hence increase their relevance and “trust” factor. I will let you know how my next trip to LCF goes.

The Dogs Bollocks is one of the treasures of West London. Located on a seedy corner of the Golbourne Road (opposite Opporto) this is where to come for a bit of Rocky Horror taxidermy chic.

More than just a non-gastro pub (though that is a blessing) this is a class operation run by Ulsterman Richard and his family. I once bumped into Richard at Belfast City Airport after what looked an exhausting golfing weekend and I can confirm that in or out of the Cock he is a true friend and a gent. For reasons best left unexplained I once had to spend several weeks in the bar there and I have rarely been happier. A great pint of Guinness too.

I miss Raj and agree that the refurb (now a year or two back) removed some of the atmos, but still defines all that is great in a local newsagent.

When was the Duck there? It always seems rammed to me - though they keep the line moving. It is dangerously addictive…
Draft House Westbridge - Battersea

Irish rock oysters, three different stouts on draft (including South London's best pint of Guinness), a quirky and eclectic music policy and damned friendly barstaff (who speak English!) all add up to Battersea's best loved pub. Although we've only been in situ for two years, many say it feels we have been there forever.
We love you Battersea - thanks for all your support and keep the feedback coming!
PS - we have the borough's best private rooms for a party or corporate function. If you don't believe it - come and see for yourself or e-mail book@thewestbridge.co.uk...
