Great for food on the go. The sandwich selection is huge and they are made fresh as you order them. There is a hot cabinet with lasagne and pies in which are lovely on a cold day. The selection of bread and cakes is fantastic. Everything is baked on the premises and there are some speciality breads. Breakfast in a box is a brilliant idea. Takeaway full english, what could be better?

A very small cafe, its not quite as it is on the tv but you can see how it is changed. They dont sell pie and chips but they sell a selection of snacks and drinks at reasonable prices. Great for fns of the programme but not really for locals as it is usually full of tourists wanting to know where Nora batty is! Some pleasant staff and some not so but it might have been a bad day. Anyway well worth a visit for fans. The bacon sarnies are microwaved by the way, so avoid them

At last! a new shopping centre on the site of the old lodges supermarket. Situated in the bus station it will have a variety of shops including a chemist. There is a cafe on the first floor with views over the car park At the moment only a delicatessan and gift shop are open. The rest will follow shortly.Will bring much needed life to this end of town.

A really well stocked superdrug. Some of the gifts they have for xmas are brilliant. They stock most of the major brand cosmetics and toiletries and there is a pharmacy for prescriptions. They also do blood pressure and cholesterol checks. Students with an NUS extra card get 10% off when you spend over £10.00

One of a large chain of shops in Yorkshire. They have a really good stock of home linens. Some of the bedding is stunning and could be from a more expensive store. There is an upstairs but the steps are very narrow and there is no handrail. Most of the curtains are up there. Special offers all the time and students get 10% discount.

An exceptionally well stocked stationers. Everything from crafts to ink cartridges. The prices are quite low and students get a 10% discount. At busy times you may have to queue a while but the pleasant staff always apologize. Special offers which change weekly.

Cold and damp was the first impression. down a steep set of stairs at the side of the road. there is a damp musky smell when you enter which is not inspirational to say the least. The staff are not very interested in what you want, more what they want to create. The gentleman who did my hair kept going off to answer the phone. I was in there nearly 3 hours and was frozen solid. I was also charged £48.00 for the priviledge! My cat could have done better with a blunt fork. Give it a wide berth

A good old fashioned greengrocers, they supply most of the business’s in Holmfirth with fruit and veg so it must be good. Small area to front covered in a vast aray of fruit, veg and seasonal plants. It is one of the few places in holmfirth to get fish and inside there is all the basics like sauces and gravy browning. the quality and service is as would expect. old style courtesy and charm

Lovely little eating place in the site of the old deli. There is an upstairs and downstairs seating area. The downstairs area is next to the river so lovely on a summers evening. the lunch and dinner menus offer a large variety of locally sourced well cooked food like 'wild boar sausage with garlic mash and red onion marmalade’ and 'confit of honey roast duck’. It is well worth watching the blackboard outside as they do some specials which are a bargain. Lovely polite unrushed service. There is live music on a thurs.

What is it about this place that draws so many fans? The smell, it greets you from half a mile away, a mixture of sweets and herbs. the stock is fabulous and the products even better. ethically sourced and handmade. You can buy online from them too. there is a fragrance for every type of person and the skincare is a real godsend for people with sensitive skin. no animal testing here. super helpful staff
