Anchor Inn - Whixley

New Road, York, North Yorkshire YO26 8AG

22-02-2012

You have a massive choice of main dishes, including joints of beef and pork both cooked to perfection. There is plenty of other choice usually including Pork Belly, Lamb Shank, Chicken in Wine Sauce, Steak Pie, Salmon, Cumberland Sausage, Duck and a Vegetarian Option. There are at least five choices of vegetables as well as roast and very tasty boiled potatoes. The gravy is always thick and flavoursome. There are also many excellent puddings to choose from. All portions are more then generous to such an extent that you have to remember to leave room for the pudding.

The pub is beautifully kept and the open fire a delight to sit in front of.

The full range of meals are served every lunch time and evening.

Opening times 12 – 2.30 and 5.30 – 11. Meals served 12 – 2. and 6.00 – 9.00 Monday to Saturday. Sunday open 12 – 10.30 meals served until 8pm.

Well worth a visit.

Station Hotel (Patrington) - Hull

Station Road, Hull HU12 0NE

Sunday lunch is good and the choice for evening meals is fairly extensive. The food is freshly prepared and tasty. The soups have let it down being rather thin and watery on many occasions. The lunch menu is a bit limited. But the drinks are very reasonably priced as are the meals and service is very good.

Victoria Fisheries - Beverley

Unit 5 Lincoln Way, Beverley HU17 8RH

The fish is always fresh and skilfully skinned and boned and the batter is very tasty. Both the fish and chips are always well cooked and never greasy, you always get a good portion of both. We travel 8 miles passing several other fairly good chip shops to get to the Victoria. Definatly the best fish and chips in East Yorkshire.

An excellent place beautifully furnished and decorated. The staff can not be more helpful. A top quality cavery with an excellent choice of roasts and a wonderful selection of vegetables. Leave room for the home made sweets they are well worth it.

There is a carvery every day as well as a selection of other dishes.

All very reasonably priced and all excellent value for money.

Black Bull Inn - Ugthorpe

Postgate Way, Whitby, North Yorkshire YO21 2BQ

They serve an excellent Sunday Lunch, well worth the journey! The meat was first class and all the veg beautifully cooked. This was true home cooking and such a plateful!

Nice friendly staff and so helpful, we hadn’t booked but they managed to slot us in. I would recommend booking.

The place was clean and well maintained and the drinks reasonably priced.

The friend who recommended the Black Bull to us praised their usual Pub Lunches.

The only draw back is the car park is very small but there is plenty of parking on the road.

Holly Tea Room - Patrington

Station Road, Patrington, Hull HU12 0NF

This is a secret too good to keep. Runners up in the Real Yorkshire Tourism awards 2010 this little gem of a tea room sells high quality light lunches, breakfasts and cakes to die for alongside excellent tea and coffee. With only a handful of tables inside you get wonderful personal service. When the weather is right you can sit in the owners beautiful garden and enjoy your meals. You pay for quality but here quality comes at a very reasonable price. My regular Saturday treat I get withdrawal symptoms when they are closed over the winter. Roll on April!
