This whole street here is full of touristy restaurants, but L'Ecailler was full when we went in, compared to many of the other ones which were half empty.
Of particular mention is their two set menus, priced at 15 and 18 Euros, which we both took and offer good value for money. Both includes Bouillabaise, which is a traditional Marseille fish stew/soup.
For those who like raw seafood, go for the platter starter, which comes with Oysters, raw mussels, and cooked chilled shrimp.
For dessert, the profiterole (only one!) was pretty good, with rich chocolate sauce and filled with ice cream. The apple pie was disappointing however, and tasted like it was frozen.
While we were there the couple next to us mentioned that the restaurant across the road, Duarade, was better as they had it the night before.

We looked long and hard for something "quick" to takeaway while we were visiting the Vieux Port. Unfortunately, in that area, there was only this Quick hamburger place and McDonalds, or sit down cafes/restaurants. No decent French-style boulangerie or takeaway lunch places.
So we went in on a Saturday afternoon.. it was packed, took a long time to reach the counter, and the menu looked like McDonalds wih only the names changed.
Food was ok, but still very American and not French-like. Prices were exorbitant; 8+ Euros for a burger, fries, and drink!
