The Scala is a small intimate venue. The capacity is between 600-1000 so frequently small bands will play here. Sometimes bigger bands will play a 'secret show’ at the Scala for their most hardcore fans. This has included Jamiroquai, Garbage, Avril Lavigne, No Doubt and the Lostprophets. The prices for these 'secret shows’ are often cheap too (to see No Doubt cost only a tenner and it was one of the best concerts I have seen!).
The venue is very nice in general and lighting is good for taking photographs.
The venue is easy to find as it’s located right opposite Kings Cross Station.

    Camden Town

Camden Town has managed to keep it’s weird and vibrant atmosphere for decades now. It used to be the heart of music, where everyone would flock to hang out with punks, see small venues or just to talk about music. There are many original stalls here. You can buy vibrant clothes, 4” platform shoes, vinyl, hand-made jewellery, cheap accessories, even rugs. Everywhere you go you will hear cool music.
There are a few chain stores around Camden Tube stop such as Superdrug, but the further you go down and into the market the more you’ll enjoy it. There are also a lot of good places here to get piercings and tattoos.

Being originally from inner London I am more than used to busy and loud streets but this was something else. Maybe mid-December was not the best time to visit but the pavements were so crammed often I would be walking in the road!
I know the appeal are the billboards and yes I was a tourist and should of loved them but I couldn’t. There were just too much. I do not like having advertisements shoved in my face every 5 minutes. There are a lot of fantastic shops but everything else is pretty blah.

  • Tate Modern - Southwark

    Tate Modern

The art that’s showcased in the Tate Modrn rivals that of all the big galleries worldwide but unlike most of them the Tate Modern offers free and late night admission.
You’ll not only view paintings but sculptures, video installations and the most mind boggleling of art.
As many have stated there are some exhibitions that require payment. These are really for the art nuts and paid exhibitions are a very small part of the gallery. You’ll still be fulfilled by the free-to-view offerings.
As soon as you walk into the gallery you will be inspired by what’s inside the Turbine Hall. Whether it’s the 3 feet deep crack in the floor, 14000 giant sugar cubes or the largest slide in Britain (all these are past exhibitions). The wackiest of the Tate is always here.

This is the store I always recommend to those searching for vintage in London. There is a big selection here of everything. My favourite is their rack of jumpers that look like something your grandmother would knit.
The range is good for both genders. I have found very well-priced shorts (including 1970’s short-shorts!) and polos. For the girls there are racks of fancy dresses spanning many decades. Each one being completely original and unique.
The items always look freshly washed and ironed.
The clothes and accessories are clearly organised so that you can find whatever you want very quickly. The changing rooms are also brilliant as they have lots of space, enough for a few people.
