Anstruther Fish Bar - Anstruther

up there with the best fish suppers iv'e ever tasted, only surpassed by the fish shop in pittenweem circa the 70's but not that far off in quality, everything cooked to order and worth waiting for

have been to chung ’s on many occasions handy if you want to fill your belly, with ok chinese
so after the game on sunday I decided to go for a buffet, the place was busy but the man found me a table and I ordered some chinese tea.
What happened next took me by surprise and shock ,when the chap who I
assume was a manager asked me to pay in advance, this had never happened before and was really insulting, when i protested he said it was policy, now it may have been that I was wearing a football scarf,or he thought I was under the influence as I was out of breath due to my health problems and did slur my words slightly
this sort of attitude is why service in scotland is way below standards abroad,to question a customers honesty on a few minutes is disgusting
I did ask if everyone else paid in advance but got no reply at which point I told him keep his food and left ,and I wont beback

Mediterraneo - Glasgow

BEFORE I WRITE THE REVIEW I’LL OWN UP TO NOT BEING A FAN OF ITALIAN CUISINE
was looking for somewhere to eat on wed but the town was mobbed due to the strike ,after trying a few places I was walking past mediterraneo and it looked to have room ,so I read the menu and the lunchtime special was still available so I thought why not(big mistake)
Having dismissed the soup of the day I went for the brushetta followed by the pollo milanese.
the bruschetta was drenched in chopped tomatoes and olive with a bit of basil, this made the toasted bread soggy ,it would have been better just to have made it garlic bread without the tomatoes.as for the chicken it was fried in breadcrumbs (looked like cheap fish dressing)and came with so called hand cut chips, the chicken was tasteles until I added a lot of pepper, the chips were soggy undercooked(i suspect they were fried in horrible olive oil). The service was ok but nothing special, all in all a very poor experiance

traditional family butcher, with deli section and own scotch and steak pies, but their lorne is excellent and won best in scotland 2010 just one gripe they tend to leave the door open ,and fag smoke from the addicts waiting at the bus stop seeps in

Billythekid00 Their lorne may be good however it would seem to me that they make them in bulk and then freeze them and on more than one occasion i have purchased some and they have went off in my fridge after a couple of days which shouldn’t happen from a quality butcher.

Nando's - Glasgow

well does anyone really expect great food ,when your whole menu is based on poor quality cook in sauces.and that's the point in nando's ,not worth the bother

shedden Actually it's their own very tasty marinade, not "cook in sauces".

Atlantic Fast Food - Coatbridge

this years winner of the uk chip shop of the year they do a lunch time special of smaller suppers haddock and chips £3.60 full fillet and plenty chips batter was crispy fish succulent and chips fluffy was it the best iv'e ever had probably not but still very good only downside was the assistant was opening carrier bags to put the food into and was licking her finger to do it bet she didnt do that when the inspectors were in as hygiene is a big part of the scoring

shedden You eat too many chippies

Lucky 7 Canteen - Glasgow

tried this place after reading reviews on qype.must say I was very dissapointed tried the fish and chips(lunch portion) £4 very tiny portion half fillet of fish if that and yes the chips come in a little poke all 6 of them the fish was ok but not great the chips were burnt and not even crisp,if your going to leave on the skins then the skin needs to be crispy, not soggy like these even the waitress with the kinky knee high boots couldn't make up for th food I wont be making a second visit

Brel Bar Restaurant - Glasgow

Haven't been to brel for years,so hearing that it had improved it's belgian beer range I thought i'd give it another try,and i'm very glad I did. they now stock a range of 60 belgian beers that is varied and well thought out. This is just not a good list for glasgow or the uk but would not be out of place in Belgium itself Highlights include De Dolle extra special stout,a couple of Ranke brewery beers(unfortunatley not the kreik),and almost the full range of Malheur beers a bit more attention to the lambic range would be welcome but thats a minor point. The prices aren't cheap but it saves on the air fare to brussells

curry leaf - Glasgow

the curry leaf offers the choice of having your dish as tapas size or full size the food was ok but not spectacular, the veg pakora was the best bit but the portion of sauce was tiny nice try but needs to improve with all the competition in glasgow
