We visited here last week and I can’t praise it enough. We hadn’t booked and they were extremely busy. The waitress managed to have a shuffle around with the tables and fitted us in. The service was excellent and the waiting staff are real characters. We were made to feel very welcome and not an inconvenience as you unfortunately find all too often these days.
Our food was fantastic. I had the fish soup which I can highly recommend. I just had two starters as they looked so good and they certainly were, this request didn’t pose a problem to our lovely waiter. The food was so fresh and tasted home prepared. The only problem was that the main fish course that my son had was not cooked properly. The batter was still slightly gooey inside, credit to the staff this was immediately dealt with. They couldn’t have been more caring. This is a must place to visit and one place that we are looking forward to returning to again.
The pub itself is a real find. It’s what I would call a real country pub, so cosy with lovely open fires. There was even an area with a big screen which was showing the rugby at the time. You will not be disappointed with this extensive interesting menu and lovely staff.

We visited this on a very busy Friday evening. There was one young lady waiting the tables who was very stressed. The service was abysmal but the food absolutely beautiful that was when we did eventually get served. It was such a frustrating evening having to wait so long for everything. I did feel sorry for the waitress but on the other hand you should never accept so many diners if you can’t serve them adequately. We waited 40 minutes for our first drink so we ordered another one as they arrived, this did confuse her and I’m glad that we did as the next drinks arrived an hour later. On a more positive note, the food was fresh and delicious. We shared three starters which were all served to perfection. Our main courses arrived so far apart that I had finished mine before the other one had arrived; my partner had to send back his noodles which were served with my main course and were cold by that time. The food would be worth going back for but the service really put us off. We had no apology and we weren’t even offered a reason for the appalling service. If they had of been understaffed at the last minute we would understand but we came out none the wiser. Is it always like this? Food fab but I am reluctant to recommend this restaurant too highly just in case the service is always the same. We drove past a few days later and noticed that the bar that they were building is now functional but for my liking it is too near the tables, you would have people looking down on your table as you eat.

It was with great expectations that we visited this restaurant last month. We had heard that this is a great place to dine. We went on a Saturday night. The restaurant down stairs was very busy but upstairs was very quiet. We were told because they were busy that we had to vacate our table at 8.30, we arrived at 7pm. I had the Tom Yum soup, it wasn’t one of the best I have ever had, and it was also quite expensive. My partner had the Thai fish cakes which were delicious. My main course was Thai red vegetable curry, the rice was hard where it had been in the microwave for too long and the curry was very average. My partner had a fish dish that was beautifully cooked and his noodles were gorgeous. Our wine was served warm, not nice for a good bottle of Sauvignon blanc. Overall it was ok but we definitely wouldn’t go back, I was slightly disappointed.

This pub used to be a beefeater and attracted a huge crowd. The bank of the river outside of this lovely pub used to be in the summer full of beer swilling louts. The pub however has had a major face lift and change of ownership over the last 10 years. The decor has changed for the second time in that period and is fairly modern. There is a couple of open fire places in the bar area which gives it a very cosy feel. You can order food and eat in the bar or go through to the restaurant. The food appears to be quite adventurous and appealing but doesn’t really live up to expectations. The vegetables I think are frozen and the food I think is mass produced. It doesn’t have that home cooked taste that you would expect for the prices that they charge. It is a pleasant place to go; the staff really look after you and are professional. Don’t expect a culinary experience though, I recommend the pizza.

Costco is by far the best place to shop. You have to have a membership card and need a business or be a professional worker to do so. The membership fee of £26 you will save on the first visit. You can buy most things here; I have even seen a sports car for sale before now. The food is usually in big packs, but you make fantastic savings. Costco sells food, drink, toiletries, confectionary, books, toys, gifts, games, films, music, sports equipment, furniture, white goods, electrical goods, clothes, shoes, light fittings, showers, tools, bread, cakes, office equipment, bags, stamps, cigarettes, booze, crisps, pet food, household items, swimming pools, tents, canoes etc. There is so much here, give yourself a good few hours to shop here. They also have a restaurant that sells the cheapest food around. They serve Pizza, jacket potatoes, salads etc.
