Perfect Pad Dog Boarding. - Glasgow

4 Inchbrae road, Cardonald, Glasgow, Scotland G52 3HA

05-09-2012

Sam is a lovely person who loves dogs. My staffy milly looks forward to staying with Sam when we have to go away. Milly is in a huff with us for days when she comes home as Sam and her family spoil her rotten. I know milly is in safe hands and is cared for.  Sam is a genuine dog lover and this shows when sam picks her up, and milly is always glad to see her.  Sam also sends regular texts on how your pet is and will pick your dog up for free if your within 3 miles.  The dogs are walked regulary and have fun. Like i say, milly looks forward to staying with sam and her family and we treat it as a wee holiday for her.  Sam keeps your pet in her own home and not in a miserable concrete kennel. i will recommend sam to anyone looking to have their dog walked and or boarded. im glad I found her,and so is milly ;)

Do not ever purchase an Advent computer from this lot of cowboys. its their own brand and they are rubbish. i had an advent laptop from them that overheated all the time and they refused to fix it, unless I paid £70 upfront. laptop was still under warranty.

Sunny Side Hotel - Blackpool

40 Hornby Road, Blackpool FY1 4QJ

Booked this hotel through laterooms. Pictures looked good on the website, Its difficult finding a decent hotel in blackpool due to there being so many of various standards. anyway..  First of all i phoned the hotel to let them know that we wont be arriving until 7pm. this was fine, and also the parking space we had reserved was still available. When we go there, i was faced with a closed recepetion area, I eventually found a staff member in the bar. She had no knowledge of our booking, and i asked her to look it up on the computer. She found it. i asked about the parking space, which she again had no knowledge. We ended up putting the car in a private car park nearly a mile away, very annoying. We booked a delux room with a jacuzzi. the room was nice without being stunning, plenty of the usual biccys and tea and coffee and the jacuzzi was great. Breakfast in the morning was like a cattlemarket, there was a long queue for the dining room and the guests rushed in when the doors opened.  we waited back until the chaos calmed down, and had a lovely breakfast. The breakfast is self service and there was a good choice. one small letdown, was the juice was the diluting stuff instead of fresh. There was a lack of staff clearing up and the two girls working were run off their feet. They did well considering. The hotel looked a bit dated when we walked in, apart from the parking space debacle. The place is clean and serviceable. The lady i found at the start couldve been a bit friendlier on her first impression, but she turned out to be quite helpful.

The Spirit - Glasgow

26-30 London Road, Glasgow, Scotland G1 5NB

21-11-2009 (updated on 16-06-2012)

this place has been through a few owners over they years with various different names.
Scary punters who growl on your way in. Seemed understaffed in our visit, the bar is in the centre of the pub, but the the two staff where rushed off their feet. very limited choice of lagers/beers. but it was cheap. toilets where shocking. We left after getting a can shoved in our face asking for money for a certain irish terrorist organisation.

Rock Roll Burger House - Rutherglen

Bought A chicken Korma meal deal from here.
For £7.20 i got pakoras chips, nan bread. spicy onions, and of course the korma itself.

The pakora was lovely. You can really go wrong with spicy onions.

The korma. Was nice and creamy, but had a slightly odd smell from it. Thought it was just me as they claim they make their own suace. Anyway, twenty minutes after eating most of the korma, I was over the toilet throwing up.
My partner and myself went around to the place afterwards and informed him of what had happened. he then brough out the chicken to show me it was fresh. It didnt look too fresh. But looked like it had been sittng out the fridge for a while.
I didnt want to cause a scene, but just said to the guy, be careful where you keep your meat. Might just be a one off, but i wont be back.

McCallum's Cafe - Glasgow

98 Main Street, Glasgow, Scotland G72 7EJ

Cambuslang institution this place, used to be good.
It always busy with the same faces eating there all the time. The staff are quite quick at serving. Lunchtime take out can be busy too.
However, i ordered a salad platter from them, and it came with out the promised boiled egg and was packed out with sliced lettuce. I queried it, and was told “we don’t stock eggs” this is the same place id ordered it from who has just served three plates of scrambled egg and toast to customers. Bizarre.
So basically you can take stuff out and charge the same.
Anyway, I think McCallums is struggling because of the other places that have opened up around it. A good paint job and a wee bit of modernisation wouldnt do it much harm.
To sum up, I think its pricey for what you get.

Dr Gormans - Glasgow

Not a bad place to go for a drink, wee bit overpriced but worth it. the DJ at the weekend is good and will play most requests with a polite nod after you ask him.

The restaraunt is good value and the food is nice but not spectacular.

I have been to a few gigs here over the years and have never heard one band get a decent sound in it.

The building itself is designed to squeeze as many people in and get as much cash out them while they are there. Thats my opinion anyway. But bands will play here as it hold a lot of people and they can maximise their audience. If they had spent a little care on the sound in the place, it would be an enjoyable place to go.

If you want to buy any food/drink, don’t forget to go for a bank loan before you purchase it.

Has wonderful ice cream, but the guy who runs it is a miserable git.
Hates having kids in his shop, if you don’t want them in your shop, don’t sell confectionary then. Its not a cafe but a sweetie shop, i think it may have been in times past.
Anyway the ice cream is wonderful and if you can put up with the wee rude fat guy, then go for it.

Attended a private party, really freindly staff, not bad price for drinks, DJ was good, not bad place to go.

bugs A man after my own heart. We don’t ask for much in life, and unfortunately we seldom fucking get it.
The pubs in Rutherglen aren’t up to much, but the old New Orleans-even I’ve got to laugh at that one-is probably the best of the bunch.
