South African Bar with tasteful relevant decor-particularly the carved animals . Good selection of drinks, and good barstaff. Recommended for a pre meal drink in Leith.

Can't believe no-one has written a review for this place!! It's a restaurant as well, but only the Deli seems to have been listed..
I can't recommend this restaurant enough-I live in Manchester and visit Sheffield at least twice a year specifically so I can revisit Nonna's. The menu is always seasonal and excellently prepared and the waiting staff are total professionals who are led superbly by the manager.
Have a drink in the adjoining bar before hand and indulge yourself with some authentic Italian cooking.
Ps - I'm not the owner or anything, I just really love this place!

I've been here for a number of different reasons (work, a date and with friends) and it has never disappointed. It is particularly busy in the summer as there is a lovely terrace area overlooking the locks but despite this you never have to wait to long at the bar.
The food is reasonably priced and is very good, as are the waiting staff. I'd recommend trying their summer BBQs I'd you get the chance.

One of the best pubs in Manchester. I've always been impressed with the selection of lagers and real ales available but it also always has a good atmosphere and friendly staff.
I recently ate there for the first time and have to say I was mightily impressed by the quality of food. It took slightly longer to arrive than expected, but not too long and it allowed us our enjoy our drinks. lots of veggie options, and the menu caters for light bites and bigger meals very well.

Not knowing what Atlas was like in the Hacienda days, I think this bar is pretty good. I often have a quick drink before catching a train because it's chilled in the afternoon with decent music at a decent volume. Would recommend it also as an 'anti club' bar for those who can't face queuing for a club.
The drinks are def city centre prices, and you can just under £4 for a pint and £7 for a cocktail regardless of the time of day. I haven't tried the food but I've heard the pies are very good.

Very good pub-throughly recommended. Wide selection if ales and lagers, but I would suggest going for the Cider on the right hand side of the bar-depending on which way you push the tap, you can get ice made out of cider-effectively making a cider slushy! V.cool.
I haven't had the chance to try them yet, but I've heard v.good things about the Sunday Carvery.

One of the great stadiums in the UK, Old Trafford is def worth a visit even if you're not a red. Unfortunately the ground has been americanised, with Bud's an hotdogs available throughout. Not as good (or friendly) as Eastlands..
Croma - Manchester

The best thing about Croma is that they don't take bookings, which is really handy when you want to eat somewhere good at the weekend at short notice. You never end up waiting more than 30 mins.
For that reason I've probably been 10 times or so I've the past 2 years. Over this period I've felt the service has deteriorated. Staff don't even ask you how the food was, and at times be simply rude. It's a pity because the pizzas are excellent and the prices are reasonable.
I'm looking forward to trying Dough instead, and will only be using Croma as a backup in the future.

Very nice pub in the city centre, good for either after work drinks, a pit stop whilst shopping or starting a night in the northern quarter. The only reason it's not 5 stars is because the service at times can be poor, with staff more concerned with having a chat then serving the bar-speak up if you want served!

An excellent pub with a wide selection of lagers and ales. Nicely decored, ignore people who label it pretentious or a tippy bar. I'd echo other people's compliments about the food-good and reasonably priced. Also worth a mention is the great selection of malt whiskeys on offer..
