Kwik Fit - Hendon

103 West Hendon Broadway, Hendon, London NW9 7BN

12-12-2012

Took my car here for MOT off the back of a cheap Kwik-Fit price offer. Came away disappointed. They quoted me £250 for repairs my car needed to pass. I was suspicious and went to another place for my MOT who passed my car without even any testers notes, which was what I expected given how meticulously I maintain my car.

norman1366 I always take my car to a Council MOT station. They aren’t after the work just a fair test. Glad yours worked out OK.

Very Important Qyper medal for dotmit

dotmit I’d used the Bromley branch before where they were completely honest and did a good job. I think it’s down to how dodgy the branch manager is as to what they do in various branches.

No council places nearby to where I live and I only had a limited time in which to do my MOT and stay legal!

PizzaExpress - Southwark

24 New Globe Walk, Southwark, London SE1 9DS

12-12-2012

This Pizza Express has wonderful views and a nice atmosphere but is let down somewhat by the service which hasn't been as good here on the few times I've visited as it's been at other branches of the same chain.

Dockland Diner - Docklands

West India Dock, 76 Cannon Drive, London E14 4AS

12-12-2012

The only proper greasy spoon cafe anywhere near Canary Wharf... and it seems everyone else knows about it too.

Decent grub, decently priced. It's not pretending to be anything but a good old-fashioned café and that's what makes it great :)

O'Neills - Muswell Hill

87 Muswell Hill Broadway, Muswell Hill, London N10 3HA

12-12-2012

'Just another O'Neill's' but this one is in a church, and is rather grand. There's an upstairs area that is like a terrace that overlooks the downstairs, and the atmosphere is really nice. Not the cosiest place but the space means you can still breathe and move around, and still hear the person standing next to you even when it's busy.

Big Easy Barbeque & Crabshack - Chelsea

332-334 Kings Road, Chelsea, London SW3 5UR

12-12-2012

The Big Easy is great fun, with fabulous cocktails and lovely food. It's better to book a table but you won't be disappointed; tasty and large dishes with friendly staff and a lively atmosphere make this a place you want to keep coming back to.

Taylor St Barista - Docklands

S Colonnade, London E14

12-12-2012

This would be a 5-star place, especially as the only proper coffee in the whole of Canary Wharf, were it not for the fact that it's impossible to actually get a coffee without queuing at any time of the working day. Which says everything about the people working here really, rather than anything about the place itself.

The Ledger Building - Docklands

4 Hertsmere Road, Canary Wharf, London E14 4AL

12-12-2012

It's the only Wetherspoon near Canary Wharf and winner of the 2004 pub toilet of the year awards. What more can you ask for?

Spacious interior, cheap booze, reasonably priced reasonable food. Typical Wetherspoon really. It has a better atmosphere than many of the more expensive places in the area, and the prices are better but it's a bit out of the way from the main Canary Wharf estate.

Cafe Mambo - Fulham

683 Fulham Road, Fulham, London SW6 5PZ

12-12-2012

Randomly decided to try this place for brunch one Sunday.

Sadly the traditional British brunches most of us went for were mediocre at best, but the south American one that my friend had was lovely.

I suspect we went there looking for the wrong sort of food and had we gone for something more authentic we would have been delighted, so I'm going to give them 4 stars so as not to be unfair, pending another visit where I can try some more of the menu.

Moo Grill - City of London

42 Middlesex St, London E1 7EX

12-12-2012

The new Moo is as good as the smaller, cosier old one around the corner!

Fancy snazzy new premises but same epic friendly service and wonderful food. The only problem I foresee is that it's going to be full in no time and impossible to ever get a seat, much like the original smaller branch!

Well done guys :)

This was my favourite place in Canary Wharf until it closed down. Surprised the last reviewer hated it so much!
