The Mitre - Bayswater

24 Craven Terrace, Paddington, London W2 3QH

Nice local pub, loved the wood panels and the high ceilings. IN the summer it’s nice to be on their terrasse or just outside. Lots of space at the back. A good local option.

Yashin Sushi - Kensington

A perfect dinner, we will be back! It is rare to find a place like this in London where people really seem to care and where the attention to details is so great, without overdoing it. Yashin is about delicious, meticulously-prepared, beautifully-presented Japanese food, in a very nice and warm decor. We had dinner at the counter and would really recommend it, especially for a party of 2 or 3. We liked everything (apart from the Tofu but that’s more personal). You get to see the chefs work and prepare the food, an entertaining and interesting show. It is not cheap but if you stick to beer or green tea it helps, especially as the food is the main attraction. We did have some wine and had some great advice from the Japanese sommelier who knew his French wines extremely well. Overall a great venue in an unlikely location. We will be back!

Best place for lunch in Auron on the slopes, good choice, good quality, good prices. We have been coming here for years. And good patisserie too!

At 2200m small and simple coffee and sandwich place called snack Maeva, but the best part is the view over the valley!

Delicious bread, one if the best places to buy bread in Nice. Usually only a very short wait.

Delicious Australian restaurant, just opened in November 2011, long queues over the weekend that seem justified. Finally a great brunch place in Notting Hill? In spite of the wonderful weekend appeal of Notting Hill, the choice for brunch places is quite limited: Toms is charming but very small with a fresh but unsurprsing menu, 202 is too posh (for me at least) and with a limited choice, The Electric is great but sooo dark, The Tabernacle is great during the summer and with kids but the food is nothing special, etc. Here comes Granger & Co and we were sold on our first visit (in spite of the queues). Compared to other reviewer on Qype I had a fantastic experience but cant compare it to other Granger places as I had never heard of the chef, a kind of Aussie version of Jamie Oliver (or maybe Jamie Oliver is in fact a Brit version of Bill Granger after all). So we liked the bright, light and airy dining room, and the casual all day menu available. All the food we had Aussie breakfast, eggs, hamburger, fritters and pasta) were excellent and still different from our usual family brunches. Maybe it was the “Australian feel” in fact. The staff was very friendly and our waiter took great care of us, even getting some special pasta made for one of our children who didnt like the sauce on the menu (and only charged £4 for the pasta). So we will be back, the only issue is that the price to pay is a long queue before lunch, not the best way to spend part of Saturday or Sunday but once inside the restaurant it feels well worth it, tasty, friendly, well-designed and good value for money (£55 for 4 brunch, 2 adults and 2 children). A new favourite!
