Do you want the good news or the bad news first?

Okay lets get this over with: here's the bad news.

The flat was a long dark tunnel, with kitchenette and bathroom in middle without windows. Fitted with only low wattage bulbs, the mattresses on our beds were from the 70's and nearly swallowed you up whole. The bed sheets tiny old cheap terry toweling ones that did not cover mattress which meant I woke up with nose pressed against it *gross*. I could not sleep on mine and had to move to the couch with my 18 month old son because his cot smelt, lets just say, very strange indeed.

The kitchen utensils are thrown together old bits and pieces. The frying pan was fuzzy with the Teflon coming off (the owner did bring us a new one on request)

There were only two hobs one of which did not work. No oven, no toaster. We had to bring our own toilet roll, tea towels, washing up liquid...

There was nowhere comfortable to sit other than on the wooden bench in the kitchen or a daybed also in the kitchen.

The owner told us with a big smile, she would do us a 'special deal' on the sauna - she said it was normally 10 euros to fire it up which we already thought was a rip off then she told us that was PER PERSON!!! (she was offering it to us for 30 instead of 40 if we went in with four people) Gee thanks but no thanks.

My parents (old age pensioners) were extremely disappointed and when my mother went to pay and realised what they were charging us 1644 (inc. taxes and cleaning) which works out at 234 per day (!!!) she said she has never ever paid so much for such bad quality in her 35 years of holidaying in Tirol, the owner just tartly replied that we were given a quote and we accepted it. My mum was shaken at the tone and treatment she received at the hands of the owner.

Here's the good news - and that's where the one star comes in.

The apartment was clean (and so it should be considering cleaning fees) and warm and is very close to the Fleckalmbahn gondolas which means its only a few steps away with your skis. The ski storage was good too. My ski boots had a more comfortable place to sleep than I did!

We will never ever book here again, and it seems that The Hanserhof owners are quite happy to make their money with ripping off people once, probably knowing fine well that they will not book again. I guess the location ensures bookings.

It's such a shame, the place has potential and they waste it by charging exuberant prices for a very low standard.

Very, very disappointing and I am sorry for my parents who are old age pensioners and had to endure this place and my mother who was dumbfounded at the response of the owner.

Sorry mum, sorry dad!

Do not book here and waste your money and risk ruining your holiday!

Erstens bitte verzeihen Sie mein Deutsch – Englisch ist meine erste Sprache!!

Wo soll ich anfangen? ah ja genau: ACHTUNG KINDERFEINDLICH!

Ich bin einfach schockiert von der ‘Behandlung’ die wir von dem Kellner Rod****z heute bekommen haben, und die Einstellung vom Cafe Babies gegenüber.

Ich gehe zum ersten mal rein mit meinem neun Monat altem Sohn im Kinderwagen und seiner Oma.

Wir suchten uns extra eine ruhige und leere Ecke nach einer sehr stressigen Tour durch die Stadt, wo ich den kleinen stillen konnte, und wo wir niemandem stören würden. Das Cafe war in der Ecke hinten links völlig Leer.

Kaum hatten wir uns hingesetzt kam der Kellner Rod****z der uns bat den Kinderwagen bitte an die Wand zu stellen – wozu ich gesagt habe, “Ja aber ich muss da erst noch ran – ausserdem steht er gar niemandem im Wege.” Er meinte in einem völlig genervtem Ton, “Vielleicht kommen ja Leute, und mann breitet ja auch nicht seine Sachen über alle Tische und Stühle” wozu wir antworteten, “Wenn jemand kommt dann tun wir den Wagen weg, und das wir das ja auch nicht vorhatten unsere Sachen überall zu verbreiten.”

Ich sagte noch mal, "Ich muss erst Sachen rausholen (in der Zeit fängt mein kleiner an zu weinen, und Leute zu starren) er sagte – “zum dritten mal möchten Sie Ihr Kinderwagen zur Seite stellen” was wir dann taten. Derweil sagte ich da ist mein Rechner und Kamera und alles mögliche in den Wagen drin, wozu er antwortet, “Das ist doch nicht mein Problem!”

Ich ging zum Klo: kein Wickeltisch! Ich musste den kleinen auf dem kalten Fussboden wickeln. Die Dame die da sass um Geld von den Kunden zu verlangen(!!) meinte, “machen Sie das doch draussen im Cafe auf der Sitzbank, und ausserdem dürfen Sie Ihre WIndeln nicht hier in den Mülleimer schweissen – das ist Sondermüll, das ist die Vorschrift” Ich musste die dreckige Windel dann mit ins Lokal nehmen (!), und wusste nicht wohin damit. Ach so, Sie erzählte mir das der Chef kein Wickeltisch haben möchte… Warum den das nicht?

Ich habe den Kellner gesagt das ich nie wieder komme, das Lokal ist Kinderfeindlich, er meinte nur “Das ist mir doch Egal” ich zeigte Ihn wie meine Hände von der Situation zittern wo er seine Hände zeigte und sagte “Schau das kann ich auch” er bat uns ausserdem sofort zu Zahlen. Die Oma die da schon seit 40 Jahren hingeht, hat war geschockt und nah an den Tränen.

Ich fragte Ih ob er selber Kinder hat, oder schon mal mit einem Kinderwagen gefahren ist, von Ihm kam keine Antwort. Ja, das habe ich mir schon gedacht! Wer würde den schon mit so einem Mann Kinder machen wollen?!

Auf jeden Fall Holländische Kakao-Stube: haben Sie mal was vom Wort “SERVICE” mal was gehört?

Oder davon gehört, dem Kunde das Gefühl zu geben das er WILLKOMMEN ist wenn er bei Ihnen Geld ausgeben möchte?

Oder das er sich beim Kakao trinken sich zumindest WOHL FÜHLT und nicht wie irgendein ein Verbrecher?

Oder lieber Herr Rod****z, das Motto, “DER KUNDE IST KÖNIG” ?? mann argumentiert doch nicht mit einer alten Oma, die Ihr Enkel Ihr liebligscafe seit 40 Jahren zeigen möchte???!!

Schade das ich mir nicht die Restliche Knaller die Herr Rod****z von sich gelassen hat merken kann – ich hätte zu gerne eine versteckte Webcam dabei gehabt – wie so ein Macho ein Oma und Mutter mit Säugling fertig macht. Ich bin mir ziemlich sicher dieser Mann hätte danach kein Job mehr.

Herr Rod****z: Ich hoffe Sie haben unser Geschenk gemocht: die Windel die ich und meine Sohn extra FÜR SIE unter dem Tisch liegen gelassen habe. Bitte Sehr!

nadjapalmeyer Das ist ja wirklich unverschämt! Ich plane mit einer Gruppe Mütter iM oktober dort ein Treffen abzuhalten. Mit Kindern! Nach dieser Bewertung werde ich aber lieber von dem Holländischen Kakastübchen abraten und wo anders hingehen! Unmöglich so ein verhalten! Ich hoffe Ihr Sohn hatte wenigstens ordentlich in die Windel gekackert damit sich der Kellner wenigstens freuen konnte!

feuergekocht Ich denke ihr solltet EXTRA da mal hin und richtig Chaos machen – und den Kellner – siehe Namenhinweis oben mal sein Job richtig zur Hölle machen! Das hat er sich verdient!
Auf jeden Fall hat die Oma sich bei dem obersten Chef – den Sie persönlich kennt – beklagt. Er hat sich entschuldigt – aber auch den Kellner in Schutz genommen – das es vielleicht voll war (war es nicht, und trotzdem kein Grund so Aggressive zu sein ). Es gab kein Gutschein oder Kaffee umsonst als Entschädigung, nichts…

naja… egal, der Laden ist für mich Geschichte!

Viel spass beim Kellner ärgern! ;-)

Neues Restaurant im Kiez: sehr leckere, schön präsentierte Gerichte, faire Preise, netter Service, schönes Interior. Draussen sitzen möglich.

Alle waren sehr zufrieden mit Ihren Essen

Unfortunately we were really disappointed by this restaurant, after looking forward to coming here for a while - AND reading great reviews - mainly here on Qype.

One thing I have to say - the waiter was a sweetheart and it was refreshing to have friendly service - although not the snappiest - ESPECIALLY in Berlin!

We ordered the pecan cranberry salad which was nice enough and looked pretty. Spicy and lots of flavour. We ordered the barbequed prawns - which seemed lacking in flavour although they were heavily marinaded. I had to add a ton of salt. No sign of the famous spicy sauce - just a chili flakes mixture to sprinkle on - and thank god we had that.

The rice and beans literally tasted of NOTHING! My friend mentioned dish water - ouch! Someone here mentioned Creole food tastes 'muddy' - yup - spot on. I only ate a few mouthful, thinking I cook better food at home every night. Presentation was no better than in a canteen - no frills - a pile of rice, a pile of 'mud'.

My friend had the crawfish étouffée which again looked like canteen food (prison and hospital food was also referred to) and tasted not far off... I am so sorry - I don't enjoy writing bad reviews, especially small new companies - but this needs to be said - if this really is Creole food then you can keep it.

The restaurant itself is okay - I don't mind spartan simple style - but this is verging on boring, and the lighting in the restaurant is 'flat', and could benefit from a little more creativity (see bare bulbs in hallway).

One star for the delightful waiter and one star for the salad.

Oh, the legendary cheesecake was finished - I WILL go back to use my 1euro voucher for that cheesecake and a coffee, but that's as far as it goes.

Pricing would have been okay IF it had been tasty and presented a little more lovingly - we had an Exberliner 15euro discount voucher - which I am very, very happy about.

Sorry New Orleans House - I would have loved to have given a better review... and I hope I wasn't too mean...

This is a wonderful bookshop in my Kiez. In fact its my favourite. Susan and Elli are wonderfully helpful, and ordered books arrive the next day. Great coffee is available and the hot chocolate is really tasty! When its warm it’s possible to sit outside and leaf through magazines. There are film evenings of films adapted from novels.
There is a collection of English books, a good selection of travel books - especially ones about Berlin.
I can wholly recommend this shop and it’s owners!

Yum, yum, yum! This is my favourite place for stopping off for semi-healthy comfort food after stessful day in town, or stocking up on energy before rocking it at Wild at Heart.

A good selection of vegan and vegetarian, burgers, sausages, organic fries, a lotsa sauces. The service is actually friendly and fast here (one of the few in Berlin). You can buy slices of vegetarian mortadella, salami, ham etc to take home and make amazing sandwiches for lunch. it’s open nice ‘n’ late, and has a general good ‘n’ yellow sunshiney vibe. I find the decor a bit 90’s now but thats okay - Yellow Sunshine you are forgiven!

To take down a massive section of the longest remaining piece of the historical Berlin Wall and to put up a huge offensive advertising O2 TV monitor/sign which obstructs the beautiful Berlin skyline from the Oberbaumbrücke also nearly obliterating the TV Tower is enough to stop me from EVER setting foot in that place and EVER using O2 products. It broke my heart to see what is happening to our Kiez, our Spree Ufer and Berlin as a whole. Developers ruined Potsdamer Platz with aggressive architecture, Alexander Platz is in the process of being ruined (ALEXA - WTF????) and now the space along the entire river front.

the truffle pizza for a tenner is genius!! Truffle paste, rocket salad, tallegio cheese… OMG!
service is usually pretty good, and quick enough even when busy.
