Terrific fish - caught longshore i.e no more
than 6 miles from Suffolk & so lovely & fresh
& cooked by Mme H ...well just a meal made
in heaven! The area is fascinating - boats of all kinds
surround you,lovely walks, & a view
across the marshes to Walberswick

The HQ of the medical fraternity
By complete good chance, the situation of the BMA
saved many lives on the day of the July bombing in
Tavistock square. The bus was blown up outside the
BMA & inside was a conference of doctors from all
over the world

This is my local : I love it & have been coming here for nearly 50 years. I also love the Sunday lunches ... Tim, the guvnor is a great guy,so friendly & helpful .... AND a fellow antipodean! May 2012 (Now he's gone back to Oz, its not the same) *************** C'est mon petit choix locale : je l'aime bien et j'ai venue depuis cinquante ans! Aussi je prefere les repas le dimanche .... Tim, le patron, est un bon mec, si amical et utile ... ET un copin des antipodes! Mai 2012 (Il est disparu en Australie. Quel domage!)

Guy's Hospital - London Bridge

St. Thomas Street, Southwark, London SE1 7EH

Very good service here

the cancer department is very overcrowded
which is why it only gets 4 star rating from me
but the staff are wonderful & so thorough.
They have hilarious lunchtime performances
to lift everyones spirits (see my pic) : there
should be more of this in our hospitals!

Macmillan Cancer Centre - Bloomsbury

Huntley Street, London WC1E 6AG

State of the art new cancer hospital :

light controlled blinds throughout
patient controlled arrival/departure panels
clean, efficient & the staff seem to like it,
which helps patient care. I like it too.

Age UK - Bloomsbury

A terrific place & so important in Britain

where the aged are just put on a wasteland
to our great shame. They offer all kinds of
help & support to the elderly

A beautiful Square where Virginia Woolf lived
in a house on the south side of the square
bombed in the war & now a huge hotel. This
bust in my picture shows how she was commemorated
in the area. It also shows the organiser of the Virginia Woolf guided tour which I went on planned by the Virginia Woolf Society.
Also nearby, the house of Charles Dickens (one of many)
& the plaque to the victims of the July bombing

Soup Kitchen - Whitechapel

Brune Street,Spitalfields, London E1

This was built in 1902 when there was a huge

immigration of askenazy jews into London’s East
End fleeing persecution in their own land.
Without the skills to earn money, many had
only this place to survive on. Just yards away is the
powerful & wealthy City of London, with her bankers.
