Chameleon - Jersey City

franklin ave 580, nutley , nj 07110 Jersey City

04-02-2009

I had a disastrous haircut at Chameleon and I’m only giving them one star because I can’t give them zero. For a start the guy cutting my hair kept wandering off to mess around with the cassette player and wave at people he knew through the window. My haircut took ages as did the girl’s before mine meaning I had a really long wait.

But honestly, it’s a shame he found the time to cut my hair at all! Despite agreeing exactly the (very simple bob) style before starting - and even having a clear photo as reference - he cut my fringe almost an inch too short, well above my eyebrows. It’s the first time I’ve had to stop a hairdresser and say “Woah! A bit short!”. He tried to cover it over by bringing forward more hair so now I have short layers on one side :(

It was VERY wonky but I daren’t ask him to straighten it up or I’d have had no fringe left. He trimmed the baseline of my bob ok but when he offered to take some of the weight out I just said “no” because I couldn’t trust him not to cut it too short. It was a little longer on one side but compared to the fringe it was a work of artistic genius.

I couldn’t wait to leave, paid £28 (half price special - OMG would people pay £56 for this?) and it’s the first time I haven’t tipped a hairdresser. I almost cried on the way home! When I got there I trimmed the fringe myself and now two months later it’s just about the length I asked for.

I know you should give the hairdresser a chance to fix their mistakes but seriously, he cut so much more off than we agreed that I was scared of what he would do next.
