Blackwells - Oxford

48-51 Broad Street, Oxford, Oxfordshire OX1 3BQ

You could spend a week in here!
It’s fantastic and definately the shop to go to if you’re a student

Borders Books & Music - Oxford

9 Magdalen Street, Oxford, Oxfordshire OX1 3AD

03-11-2008

Great selection of magazines, books, dvds, has comfortable chairs you can sit down in and read and has a coffee shop in store. Opens late every night except Sundays.

Tiger Lilly - Oxford

11c New Road, Oxford, Oxfordshire OX1 1LT

Great shop to look around. Full of wierd and wonderful quirky gifts

Po Na Na - Cowley

13-15 Magdalen Street, Oxford, Oxfordshire OX1 3AE

Good club with a slightly too small dance floor. Prices don’t reflect the “student city” status Oxford has but well worth a visit.

The Head Of The River - Oxford

Folly Bridge, Oxford, Oxfordshire OX1 4LA

Great place for a drink outside in the summer, but can be put off by the prices which are generally there for the tourists. NOT a place to go in the winter, it’s too cold!

The Red Lion - Oxford

14 Gloucester Street, Oxford, Oxfordshire OX1 2BN

03-11-2008

Now called The Red Lion, and has seemed to have lost the stigma of all the wino’s being in there. It’s cheap, it’s cheerful, the food is above average, have eaten in there a couple of times (once a meal and once snack) and the food has been good. Not a place to take your granny, but in general, not too bad considering.

The Woodstock Road Delicatessen - Oxford

I’m sure this would be a nice place to go, but my one and only experience here has put me off for life. Having never been in the shop before I wanted to browse and have a look at the wierd and wonderful jars and packets of things which would make great gifts.
BUT I was ushered to the counter straight away and didn’t really know what to make of it. The member of staff who served me was cold, and got frustrated when I asked her questions, pointing me to the menu at the back of the room (which isn’t apparent for first time visitors) and tapped her fingers on the counter as I was deciding. To say she was bored would be an understatement.
I’m sure ordinarily it’s very nice in there, but I wouldn’t ver go back having been treated so slap dash.
The food itself was nice, but they don’t fill you container, and for what you’re paying you would think they would do.

Taylors Deli - Oxford

239A Banbury Road, Oxford, Oxfordshire OX2 7HN

Chicken with pesto and basil mayonnaise is to die for. Combine that with a spinach ciabatta and you’re in heaven.
Many MANY filllings and different types of bread, the staff are courteous and get on with their job, which to me is enough when I want to get a sandwich. Offer a lot of “different” things in the shop, and their range of cakes are quite good.

Thirst - Oxford

7 Park End Street, Oxford, Oxfordshire OX1 1HH

Great for a girlie night out, cocktails start off relatively cheap (around £3.00), barman are very entertaining, does get very busy near to the weekend, so be prepared to queue if you’re heading there late.

The Westgate Centre - Oxford

Queen Street, Oxford, Oxfordshire OX1 1NZ

Hmmmm, where to start, if you live in Oxford you feel let down, if you’re visiting for the first time it may not seem to bad. Has a great Primark, and next clearance shop (but be ready to spend a LOT of time in) and a couple of gaming shops, but that’s pretty much it. With an array of cheap shops it kind of puts you off shopping somewhat. The main area in itself is relatively clean, but the stench if stale urine hits you as soon as you go to the multi storey (round the back of the centre itself)
