This is a good traditional cafe. Good food, in good servings, at a reasonable price.

This is a pleasant small restaurant. The menu is interesting and the theme is Mediterranean food. The paella is good but is only prepared for two people. The staff are cheerful and helpful.

I am reviewing only the restaurant. This was very nice with high quality food but at a fair price. It has a little of the corporate feel but not so much as to

Captains Table - Barmouth

Church Street, Barmouth, Gwynedd County LL42 1EW

This is an unpretentious small restaurant. Its menu is fairly wide and offers a good selection of meals. The meals we had were well prepared and very enjoyable. It had a good range of fish courses and the Sea Bream was nicely prepared. It has a modest but functional wine list and its prices are average. Staff were friendly and helpful.

This is an excellent value hotel. The rooms are comfortable and clean. The staff are cheerful and helpful.Breakfast is excellent.  It is dog friendly and recommended if you have a mutt.

Badell Aur Restaurant - Bala

35 High Street, Bala, Gwynedd County LL23 7AF

This is a traditional chipshop with attached cafe. The chips are good, as is the fish, and the portion sizes are generous. Slightly dearer than elsewhere but the staff are helpful and service is quick

Caffi'r Cyfnod - Bala

48 High Street, Bala, Gwynedd County LL23 7AE

This place has been a cafe for many years, though under a variety of guises. It is situated centrally in Bala high street; next to the Post Office. It is popular with both locals and tourists and this popularity is well deserved as it supplies good food at reasonable prices. The home cooked specials are worth trying. Staff are helpful and service is quick.

This place has light, water and basic sanitation. It has good access and a large seating area. These must be the draw as it can't be the food or service. The food is mediocre and usually overcooked. Probably overcooked as it takes so long to get to you. The staff are fine but undermanned and undersigned. Satisfactorybut avoid if more than one other customer.

Carousal Cafe - Barmouth

King Edward Street, Barmouth, Gwynedd County LL42 1NR

19-04-2012

An unusual name for this cafe. Not really anything like the boisterous drinking party defined by carousal. Also at some angles the “C” can’t be seen giving the more unusual name of ‘arousal cafe’ which would be better placed, I’d guess, in Amsterdam than Abermawe.

However, it is a standard, large chip-shop cafe. Off-season large and empty, in season a great place for a fish-supper, a cup of tea and some respite from the rain and kids.

The food is fair, a standard chip-shop menu prepared well enough. The staff are fine but the toilets are on the small size for the size of the hall.
