Had a good pub lunch here today - homemade lasagne with local beef and home-cut chips. Delicious! Friendly helpful lad on the bar who made me feel welcome. Only criticism would be the chips had salt on them when they arrived and I don't salt my chips!

Highly recommend as a place to stay and eat. Rooms modern, clean and comfortable. Plenty of space in the family room we had. Evening meals delicious, homecooked and very good value. Breakfast included in the room rate and is as good as the evening meals. Cooked fresh to order and good range of cereals and juices too. Will definatly stay again.

Popped in here for lunch. Very friendly staff - was greeted with smiles from about 3 people. Ordered a panini with juice which was reasonably priced and delicious. Took a muffin away for later too. Will be visiting again on my next trip to York.

Fantastic place and will be coming back. Good menu with tasty hot food. Portions were just right and chicken was is slices rather than the usual square you get in indian restaurants. Prices usual for a restaurant. Staff very friendly and efficient service. Even had time for a chat about the food as I was leaving.

Friendly welcome by very smartly dressed staff. Menu choices unusual but arrive well presented (see picture) in good portions. My choice was delicious, chicken perfectly cooked. Tempting dessert menu but too full! Would have liked to try the mango cheesecake! Proper hot towels and mint choccie at the end, so all good for me and will be returning.

Would have got 5 star but the service let it down. I will admit the cafe was full and I took the last table. Ordered a cream tea (see picture). The scones arrived before the tea, and I had time to cut and put jam and cream on 2 scones before it arrived. No apology, just some muttering about bagging their own teabags taking time. Cream tea was excellent, homemade scones with plenty of jam, cream and strawberrys. Would visit again but on a quieter day.

Didn't actually get to eat here in the end due to lack of service. Loitered around the bar area as it wasnt obvious if you had to find your own seat or if you were seated, if it was waitress service or bar order. After a good while I had to stop a waitress and ask, to which i was told to find a table and she would be with me shortly with a menu. Chose a seat outside in their lovely courtyard and watch a man who appeared a be the manager/owner check on everyone around me, cast a swift glance over me and walk back in. I left after waiting 10mins (and yes, I timed it) before leaving without being spoken to, served, looked at, nothing! Shame, as the food the other diners had looked good.
