Aigner-Gendarmenmarkt - Mitte
Französische Str. 25, 10117 Berlin
14-02-2011
My second time in Aigner and was very happy with the food and service. Food is hearty and rustic which is perfect for this time of year. Great selection of wines as you would expect also.
Beware of the sink in the toilets. The water pressure was high and the design of the sink itself led to splash back all over the place.
Try the German Grappa, good winter warmer !
Monkey's West - Carlstadt
Graf-Adolf-Platz 15, 40213 Düsseldorf
17-08-2010
Really liked Monkey's West, a mix of modern art surroundings and bang up to date food. Staff were very friendly and looked after us very well.
Made reservations on line and got a promt confirmation.
Had the tasting menu with the wine selection. Both of which were very good indeed.
Would suggest this place is more suitable for buisness lunches and dinners but still okay for couples and small groups.
Oktogon Fusion Restaurant - Mitte
Leipziger Platz 10, 10117 Berlin
04-05-2010
Booked a table for the Friday night of the Easter weekend. As I have not been to Berlin since before the re-unification I was looking forward to eating in a historic part of Berlin.
The restaurant is modern and bright with food to match. If you like to experiment with fusion food this is a great place to go.
Staff were pleasant and helpful and the prices were very good indeed.
Suitable for all occasions.
Guy am Gendarmenmarkt - Mitte
Jägerstr. 59, 10117 Berlin
04-05-2010
Spend this Easter in Berlin with my wife and made reservations at Guy for Saturday night.
First thing that struck me was the polite and professional staff. The table layout in the main dinning area is situated around a split level balconay with a good amount of personal space, ideal say for a romantic evening.
Food and wine was excellent.
Would recommend for couples and romantic evenings.
Restaurant Niven - Rijswijk ZH
Delfweg 58 a, 2289 AL Rijswijk ZH
10-03-2010
My wife and I went to Niven on Saturday night. Firstly I must say that we normally dont dine in Michelin Star Restaurants but as American Express were doing their promotion week we decided to give a try.
Located between Delft and The Hague next to the golf course it is not an easy place to find if you are unfamilure with the area. If so, just hop on the number 1 tram from either Den Haag or Delft.
My own expectations were way above exceeded. We were greeted in the reception and shown to our table in the main dinning area. The whole place looked amazing. Great attention to detail with a lot of thought put into the design and layout. For a large area the noise was at a minimum, a rare thing in The Hague.
Service was excellent. Then came the food. I could ramble on about this for a long time but I'll try make it brief. We had a set menu of Scallop with variations of apple. Then a main of Beef. The scallops were cooked perfectly but the real star was the beef. Black aberdeen angus in a jus that made me smile and almost cry at the same time. It was a taste sensation that I've rarely encountered. Oh, did I mention that in over 9 years of living here I have never found a place that does British Beef.
Wine selection was what you would expect from such high end dinning but we decided to try something different and opted for a Lebanese Red, Chateau Musar 2002. The taste was so different from anything we have ever tried but went perfectly with the beef. It was so good I've just ordered 6 bottles.
To sum up, Niven is one of the best places I've ever been, certainly way and above any place else in The Hague area
Restaurant Stockhorn - Zermatt
Riedstrasse 11, 3920 Zermatt
19-01-2010
This is one of my favourites in Zermatt. Its a good idea to book a table in advance as it can get very busy (Christmas & New Year).
I can certainly recommend anything from the open Grill but the chicken is a must. Again, you should ask for this when making your reservation.
Wine choice is good and the service is excellent.
Can be pricey but you do get plenty for your money.
MESS Restaurant - St. Pauli
Turnerstr. 9, 20357 Hamburg
16-09-2009
(updated on 23-11-2009)
We were very pleased with Mess from the moment we were greeted to the moment we left. Service was excellent as was the food and drink. Staff were friendly and paid a lot of attention to detail. Restraurant was small but made good use of the space. Would highly recommend Mess.
Hanting Cuisine - The Hague
Prinsestraat 33, 2513 CA 's-Gravenhage
13-10-2009
Actually went here on Saturday night with some friends by accident, the place we were going to was fully booked. So glad it was - this place is a real gem.
A Oriental/French fusion affair done to an exceptional level. Expect to pay around 40 Euro for for courses.
A great wine selection for all budgets and some of the best service you will find in Den Haag.
This is also one of the few places I've been to recently where you can have a conversation with those around you without having to shout.
My only gripe, even though it's a small one was the time between courses. One of our party just had two while the rest of us had four so an extra bottle of wine was required. Not a bad thing unless your tastes are for the more expensive.
Restaurant Wonka - Innenstadt Nord
Johannisstr. 38, 90419 Nürnberg
28-09-2009
Went to Wonka this Saturady and had the 4 course 'tasting menu' with the wine menu.
Every course was excelent and presented well and the wine selection for each course was well matched.
Service was very professional and relaxed with a good brief on each dishe and wine choice.
From the outside you would probably walk past and miss it, fairly unremarkable and plain inside. Dont be put off, it's a gem.
I would recommend Wonka for special occasions as the prices are fairly high but you will not be disapointed.
Lemongrass - The Hague
Dr. Lelykade 24, 's-Gravenhage
18-09-2009
Situated over looking the harbour in Scheveningen this is a modern bright restaurant serving up to date dishes. Menu changes on a monthly basis and the wine selection has to be one of the largest I've seen anywhere.
Have been here for both lunch and dinner. Weekdays you will find is mostly made up of groups for buisness dinners and the weekends for couples and smaller groups.
Extensive seating available ouside for those warm evening's.
Very popular so reservations are recommended for evening dinner.
Table positions are fairly close to one another and noise levels are fairly high.
Service is good and dishes are presented well.
