Talking Point Antiques - Sowerby Bridge
66 West Street, Sowerby Bridge, West Yorkshire HX6 3AP
17-12-2008
This shop specialises in the sale of gramaphones and related antiques. They are all reconditioned and a real blast from the past. There is also a massive selection of gramaphone records. The chap who owns it is friendly and knowledgeable and the service is first class.
andrewmarktaylor Talking Point Antiques is a very good old time shop for the gramophone and phonograph enthusiast! Having bought a gramophone and various cylinders from Paul,I do hope to visit soon in the new year 2011 ;)
Andrew Taylor.

The Works - Sowerby Bridge
12 Hollins Mill Lane, Sowerby Bridge, West Yorkshire HX6 2QG
17-12-2008
This bar, in a converted engineering works is one of the highlights of Sowerby Bridge. There is a massive selection of real ales, ciders and other drinks on offer and despite the large size of the venue there is a great atmosphere here, with it packed to the rafters on a Saturday Night
Temujin Restaurant - Sowerby Bridge
1 Canal Basin, The Moorings, Sowerby Bridge, West Yorkshire HX6 2AG
17-12-2008
This restaurant is fantastic. You choose your ingredients and they stir fry them in front of you. This has to be some of the freshest tasting restaurant food I’ve ever had. Its not the cheapest place around, but you never forget going and as its eat as much as you want a greedy guts can really clean up!
Waterstone's Leeds - Leeds
93-97 Albion Street, Leeds, West Yorkshire LS1 5JS
17-12-2008
This massive book shop is fantastic, loads of choice and big squishy chairs to relax and review your purchases in. There is a lovely coffee shop on the second floor which always seems to do great business. One of the best book shops in Leeds
Borders Books - Leeds
94-96 Briggate, Leeds, West Yorkshire LS1 6NP
17-12-2008
Borders is an excelent book shop, with the advantage of an excellent magazine and stationary section. The only downside with this Borders is its sheer popularity. It is always packed. Luckily tere are normally plenty of staff so it isn’t too big a problem getting served.
Uci Cinemas - Huddersfield
Stadium Way, Huddersfield, West Yorkshire HD1 6PG
17-12-2008
This very standard cinema is located outside the town near the Galpharm stadium. Therefore it is not ideal if you are on public transport as you have to factor in getting there and back every time you visit. The prices seem on a par with most other cinemas of its ilk, but there is nothing to make the place stand out.
The Lawrence Batley Theatre - Huddersfield
Queen Street, Huddersfield, West Yorkshire HD1 2SQ
17-12-2008
This lovely theatre is only small, but has a friendly intimate feeling to it. It is centrally located in the town and has a good selection of different concerts and plays at reasonable prices.
Forbidden Planet - Leeds
28-30 Eastgate, Leeds, West Yorkshire LS2 7JL
03-12-2008
This shop is like heaven for us nerds, once I’m in there my other half has to drag me out. Star Wars, Comics, Dr Who, Aliens etc; you name it, if its sci fi or fantasy, chances are it here. The prices are a little more than the equivelant in a toy shop, but as a lot of the stuff is imported from the states and only available from here its not unreasonable.
White Horse Inn - Beverley
22 Hengate, Beverley HU17 8BN
03-12-2008
This pub is like going back in time, with stone flagged floors, open fires and gas lighting, you couldn’t find a more atmospheric pub. The prices are very reasonable and there are some nice beers on tap, however due to its popularity it can be a bit of a scrum to get to the bar. This pub also has a pool table in the back which seems to be very popular amongst the younger customers.
New Wharf - Huddersfield
52 Wakefield Road, Huddersfield, West Yorkshire HD1 3AQ
03-12-2008
This pub looks a little shabby from the outside, but once inside there is a friendly, if slightly quirky pub. The food on offer is very tasty and the prices are reasonable. There are normally two or three real ales on tap as well as the usual choice of lagers and alco pops. Although it often gets busy on a lunchtime, being very close to the university, its not normally too difficult to get a table and get served.
