Saffron Indian Restaurant - Watford
113 Courtlands Drive, Watford, Hertfordshire WD17 4HZ
21-10-2010
This place is regarded as the best curry in Watford. If in any doubt check out the many reviews on this and other restaurant sites. A real must, if you need a reason to visit Watford this is it!
Palak pakodi chat is one of their signature dishes. Crunchy spinach fritters with onion, tomato, chilli, date and the mouth smackingly good tamarind chutney.
Best off booking in advance.
Brilliant.

This really makes a change to your usual party photography. Forget the old, stayed backgrounds, rod up your back uncomfortable portraits this really is fun. Photograph yourself or ask for a photographer, regardless you will end up with Sunday suppliment style images. Make yourself and friends look like the stars they are!

I had a chat with this guy today and what a nice guy. He knows his stuff and clearly has a passion for his craft. If you are looking for a specialist DJ I would highly reccommend DJ Delight. Do click through to his website as there is a lot to see including very happy customers.
Supperclub London - Notting Hill

"Escapism is mental diversion by means of entertainment or recreation, as an "escape" from the perceived unpleasant or banal aspects of daily life."
Simply brilliant. The latest addition to Notting Hill and it doesn't fail to impress. Everything from the decor to the staff to the food and drinks are on top. This is a place that would be worth crossing London for, a real destination venue where you can have supper and not have to move on elsewhere as from ten it is a proper club and the place rocks. Superstar DJ's, very chic crowd and beds. Leave your troubles at the door. Once this place is established I don't think it will be beaten for it's originality, copied maybe but never bettered.
There is nothing like it. A real must visit.

I went to the opening of this place and it's cool just what Earls Court needs. Three American pool tables, two bars, bar snacks, flashing dance floor and beautiful gals on both sides of the bar. Well priced. Dare I say it, it beats the teck!

Nice for an afternoon pint and a catch up with a mate. Aspall's cider on draft goes perfectly with a hot pig roll fresh off the hog roasting in the front garden. At night it gets busy and there isn't really anywhere to move as you are fenced in the small front space. Staff could be better, more attentive and a smile is always nice!
Four O Nine (409) - Clapham

This really is a hidden gem in the strictest sense. You arrive at what looks like any normal front door , you buzz and a voice asks for your name. You gain entrance and feel as though you are entering a secret society.
Once off the street you remain outside climbing up some black steps which lead you to a small
garden/terrace with a lovers swinging chair and other wicker garden furniture. Everything is quite dark adding to the whole intreauge.
Once through the restaurant door you follow the light at the end of the corridor guiding you in to the dining room and wow what a buzz. Lowly lit it is at full capacity with full atmosphere the warming sound of happy satisfied people. You know from here you are going to have an experience.
The staff are exemplary, polite, professional and very efficiant.
We are taken to the bar where we have a vodka martini and a Hendricks G &T, the Hendricks was one of the best ever. No doubt.
The menu was very good. We plumped for three starters, octapus, butternut squash soup and sea trout. The octapus was right on the money in a lovely rich dark sauce served with crisp toast and a drizzling of garlic. The soup was very good nicely rounded and perfectly warm but the trout a little disapointing. Served with strips of pickled cucumber it just missed slightly, it wasn't bad but I think just eclipsed by the other two.
Main course we both went for the rib eye with bone marrow. Again supurb, a wonderful wonderful plate of meat served with a crisp salad and chips (more wedges than chips). I think I would fry the chips in dripping for that little extra flavour but other wise they were fine. If you like your chips a little slimmer I did spot a woman with these.
We wahsed all this down with a nice french red recommended by the waiter which didn't fail to please, at £50 it was about right.
All in all this is a real must visit. I think you will go back time after time as you do feel you are somewhere special indeed somone special. The staff look after you as if you are starring in the next Hollywood blockbuster. Intimate lighting, hidden location and exceptional staff you do feel a VVIP.

Hit and miss this one. Great for watching sport as there are many (6 or so) screens but otherwise I'm not sure. I'm not a fan of pubs that have changed to bars, light wood floor and bright light, high stools and tables. Sometimes it is completely dead, I mean not even a man and his dog others it is packed (when sport is on) They used to have good bar snacks, whitebait for one but then they went to a very mediocre menu. Bit boring.

I was here not so long ago for a family do and boy how good food makes for a celebration. It was one of the best menus I've had in recent memory. Well worth a visit. Expensive yes. Worth it? Without doubt. Although that said the wine list is very keenly priced, lots under £50.

Really a very good restaurant. The prix fixe menu is outstanding value for money but otherwise venture to the full menu and go wild. Always good, trained, informed staff. All in all a great place. If you like this it's worth a trip south to Chez Bruce.
