Old Queens Head - Islington

44 Essex Road, Islington, London N1 8LN

30-09-2009

I'm just a bit sour because I was only popping in on Saturday night.

At 8pm they start charging £4 'because there's a dj on'

I could only stay an hour and no dj played the entire time I was there.

I think it might have been a good place if I were staying longer.....

Sasa Sushi - Islington

422 St John Street, Angel Islington, London EC1V 4NJ

Sushi is always expensive isn't it? I'm a big guy and need a lot of raw fish to fill me up!

Sasa Sushi is clean, quick and tasty. The weird blue light is a bit odd and the place does lake any ambience.

I can't fault the food, I just always think sushi is expensive as I'm always hungry after!!

The Stockpot - Chelsea

273 King's Road, Chelsea, London SW3 5EN

I've been here a couple of times.

The food is cheap, the service is quite abrupt, but somehow still friendly (just!), but the food is good simple gnosh.

Nothing haute cuisine, but it doesn't try to be.

If you just want to be fed, this will do you just fine.

slim jims liquor store - Islington

It was dark, it was loud and I liked it.

Funky tunes from the likes of Fleetwood Mac, nice crowd and we basically had a good time.

I never got to see anybody partake in 'the boob initiative’ which was a shame.

PS: The toilets needed some attention….although there was some comedy graffitti, which is always nice.

Cuba Libre - Islington

72 Upper Street, Islington, London N1 0NY

02-08-2009

Four of us had dinner here last night.

Mojitos, 2 for £8-50

Main course + half a starter (we shared starters) = £20

The food was absolutely fine, not remarkable. My friend tried the crab / cheese and pineapple combo. He said it was good, I tried it and thought otherwise!

The staff were really pleasant and we had a good time.

It looked like it would get busier later, but we didn’t hang around.

I think it would have been better with louder cuban music and possibly even cigar smoke (obviously the latter can’t happen!)

Yep, go there, give it go. It’s fine! :)

99 club - Leicester Square

Well, I went to the one in Islington. It’s actually held in a bar just round the corner from Angel tube station.

It’s a bit odd as the first row is RIGHT next to where the comic stands.

However, it does make for a pretty intimate gig.

There was the compare plus 3 comics. One, basically fell on his arse, but the other 2 made up for it with some proper belly laughing stuff.

It turns into a 'disco’ after, but most of the crowd dissappeared pretty quickly as the bar took on a slightly chavvy feel.

Overall for a tenner, a cracking way to spend a Saturday evening, I’ll do it again

PS: Book online for the tenner tickets (Not sure it’s worth anymore than that!)

We always have a good time. The groups tend to be 20 and 30 somethings, usually single people.

Most people come along on their own, but there are also couples and groups of friends.
Usually, there is a good mix of males and females, from all over the world

So, Whether you are looking for a day in the surf or a week in the mountains, you've come to the right place. We offer a wide range of programmes to suit all types of people.

7 day breaks, weekend trips, solo holidays, group trips, romantic times together or just days of fun-filled action....we have it all.

Have a look through our programmes and see if there is anything that gets your engine running!!

Tooting Bec Lido - Tooting

Tooting Common, London SW16 1RU

Not so sure about cheap. It was £4.75 to get in.

I liked it though. It was a scorcher of a day and a swim was the only thing to fix it.

The queue took 25minutes to get through, but once in there was plenty of space for everyone. The pool is mahussive - 90metres.

There were people of all ages and from all walks of life (including some really horrible speedoe wearers!!)

It does have a bit of a feel of faded glory, but probably a lick of paint could sort htat out.

A GREAT thing to do on a hot day. Bring on global warming!!

Thames RIB Experience - Westminster

Embankment Pier Embankment Pier, Victoria Embankment, London WC2N 6NU

Loved it. My only complaint is that it wasn’t quite dangerous enough. Maybe I’m too much of an adrenaline junky, but I’d liked there to have been a couple of moments when I felt scared.

Good smooth fast ride though. Commentary was a bit poor.
