Foyles - South Bank
Southbank Centre, Southwark, London SE1 8XX

Isobel and the team at Foyles Southbank have put together a compact but beautifully formed YA sectiion here, I've been haunting this store for years on my way in and out of Waterloo and it gets better and better. Apart from the YA, there's a brilliant range of creative and arts titles, plus a gorgeous stationery selection (I'm a bit of a notebook addict) and deckchairs out front for basking in the sunshine.
Waterstone's - Covent Garden

An oasis of literary calm in the middle of Covent Garden and the perfect size for exploring in lunch breaks without getting too lost. There are plenty of armchairs to sink into to read a few pages - or chapters (they're pretty comfy) before you make a decision. It's steeped in history too, as the previous reviewer mentioned, it used to be a notorious cock-fighting den. Queue at the main cashdesk on the ground floor and you're standing on the battle ground. Look up and you'll see something lovely enough to banish any bloody visions. The YA selection is great and the store even runs a specific reading group for YA fans of all ages. Finally, I have to admit to a certain bias. I held my book launch here and had a ball. Mary, Florentyna, Victoria and the team couldn't have been more helpful. So, highly recommended from a reader's, and a writer's, point of view.
The Sheen Bookshop - Mortlake

A great little shop almost directly opposite Waitrose (worth knowing East Sheen high street is looooong). There's a fabulous YA section as well as a good selection across all genres and Lucy and the team are passionate about books, read what they sell and are only too delighted to make recommendations.
