Spent a year living in a house rented through manning stainton. Was not a particularly great experience.

I gave plenty of notice to them that I would be moving out of the property at the end of my term thinking I would be polite. This turned out to be a bad idea, Manning stainton began arranging viewings without my knowledge. Showing people around a house full of my possessions. I wouldn't have been angry if they had been considerate enough to ask me in the first instance.

When I found out about the viewings I was angry to say the least, I asked them to only arrange viewings when I was at home to which they obliged to at first. They then asked if they could arrange a viewing during the day time which I replied with the obvious, stating that I wanted viewings only when I was home. They then said that I would have to conduct the viewings on their behalf which I told them I was more than happy to do so I could explain the problems with the house and more importantly the service received from Manning Stainton, they soon changed their mind. 

I was forced to agree to allow them to come in during the day under the impression that the viewers would be accompanied by an agent at all times. My girlfriend happened to be present at one of these viewings whereby the agent allowed 5 couples to roam about my house freely. Again not impressed I complained again, they do not care.

When I reported faults with the house they would be fixed but we would never be told when the visiting workmen would be visiting so they would be in breach of contract as they wouldn't give us the notice period required. Some occasions we would find people in the house that we hadn't asked for doing work. I find this dangerous, if I didn't expect this of them I would have problem thought myself being burgled and either assaulted the bloke or at the minimum called the police.

It has been a month since moving and I still haven't received my deposit back. The office worker had suggested that we deserved the full amount back. 

Definitely will never rent or buy through Manning Stainton again. A wholly rude, arrogant set of individuals. They seem to be very good when they need money from you.
