Bordello - Shoreditch

Alas the gentrification of Shoreditch continues. The late great Bordello is no longer, replaced by a generic Pod eaterie to rival neighbours Pret, Eat and Itsu. A sad day for EC2A.

You can get lactose free milk here, and relatively decent veg. Thumbs up CC!

Invariably my religion in the sales, this All Saints alternative often delivers the goods; in black, white or varying shades of grey.

Had a positively frothy cuppa hot chocolate here, delicious indeed and relatively inexpensive.

Colour in abundance, though sadly lacking in quality or choice.

Quirkily Shoreditch, erring on the side of expensive with an array of Christmas sweaters!
Ffiona's Restaurant - Kensington
51 Kensington Church Street, Kensington, London W8 4BA

A London institution, not just the restaurant but the fine lady herself. Juicy prawns to die, halloumi to savour and a jovial, friendly atmosphere a world away from the clinical efficiency of a larger chain. Walking distance between High St Kensington and Notting Hill Gate, this is certainly a hidden gem of the West….so sssh!
For a sneak peak inside the restaurant, and meet the woman herself:
Hilton Stockholm Slussen Hotel - Stockholm

Fantastic views combined with fantastic customer service, it doesn’t really get much better than this if you’re looking for an upmarket hotel in the Swedish capital! Overlooking the historic Old Town, you’re also within a stone’s throw of main tourist hotspots including the royal castle and Djurgårdens Park’s museums and zoo. It’s also an excellent choice for conferences. Happily for my partner and I, rainbow flags adorned the periphery as the hotel and clientele celebrated the annual Pride event (first weekend in August). A great choice, with a variety of rooms to suit nearly ever pocket ;-)
Hotel Skeppsholmen - Stockholm
Gröna Gången 1, 111 86 Stockholm

Billed as one of Conde Nast’s top 25 reasons to visit Stockholm, I can certainly see why. Well, the affable, charismatic owner Joachim Olausson gave me a free pair of pants (Bread and Boxers branded). I was extremely happy :-) You see, we were on an organised tour of the hotel, and gained valuable insight into its history. The local itself is spectacular, a ‘urban’ island marooned in the very centre of the city, surrounded by the exquisite waterfront. The property combines the modern design of Claesson Kovisto Rune housed within a 17th century building, with corridors measuring in excess of 100 metres long! It’s also gay-friendly too.
The rooms are simply stunning, free standing wardrobes and giant, Japanese stones within sinks? How could this work, take a look at the pictures to see how :-)
