Pret A Manger Chester - Chester
21/23 Northgate Street, Chester, Cheshire CH1 2HA
30-01-2011
I know it is only one of a large chain but difficult to fault Pret who have taken the basic sandwich and a drink (expresso and a Bakewell tart on my last visit) and making it just that little bit more pleasant.
If you can grab the arm chairs upstair by the window a pass some time people watching as you look down on Northgate Street.
La Tasca - Chester
6-12 Cuppin Street, Chester, Cheshire CH1 2BN
07-05-2009
Four stars for La Tasca..mmmmm. perhaps a little generous after all this is part of a big chain and in Chester, at least, a slightly dingy place. BUT it is good value the food is not unique but still tasy and it crept into four stars for the service which was excellent - informal, amusing and attentive. A good night out? Yes it was!
The ICC - Birmingham
The Waters Edge, Birmingham, West Midlands B1 2HL

Here for a 2 day conference and was very impressed with the venue. Comfortable seating and good acoutics in main auditorium. Many other breakout room.
Staff were attentive and very helpful guiding us around to different rooms.
Malmaison Hotel - Birmingham
1 The Mailbox, Birmingham, West Midlands B1 1RD
07-05-2009
Really nice hotel with helpful staff. Room was comfortable and well appointed. Bar on the dear side but not excessive for this type of hotel. Food was delicious although this was not the opinion of all within our party - probably 3/5 for the food!
Giraffe Restaurant - South Bank
Unit 1&2 Riverside Level 1, The South Bank Centre, London SE1 8XX
09-10-2008
We went here with the kids. There was quite a long wait with different people looking after you - all very nice and helpful but confusing.
Cocktails were OK with some non-alcoholic versions for the kids.
Burgers were pretty tasty and satitisfying.
Certainly not 'fine dining’ but for a not too expensive meal with the kids it was fine.
We sat outside and absorbed the buzz from the South Bank
The Chester Grosvenor - Chester
56-58 Eastgate Street, Chester, Cheshire CH1 1LT

Go for afternoon tea - really indulgent time and (just about) affordable.
Grosvenor Pulford - Pulford
Wrexham Road, Chester, Cheshire CH4 9DG
09-10-2008
I had the opportunity to use both more expensive and cheaper rooms here and both were very comfortable. Staff always helpful.
Was there on both occasions as part of a corporate training event and the venue was ideal for this.
Good was good when staying there
Cathy21 We had an excellent 2 nights there. We had a basic but very comfortable room. The food was excellent and we enjoyed the swimming pool.

Excellent food and a range of wines and ales.
Good, contemporary informal dining, outside in the garden is pleasant when weather permits.
Chester Zoo - Chester
Moston Road, Upton-by-Chester, Chester, Cheshire CH2 1EU
09-10-2008
Excellent for family days out. Bring a pinic though as the food is expensive and not terribly good.
However you don’t go to a zoo for a meal and the animals are fantastic! Excellent views throught the zoo.
The Sportsmans Arms - Tattenhall
