So starting off with the most important point - being whitby one expects good seafood and Bino's delivers on that front; The seafood is high quality and for the most part delicious - it misses a few details but I'll expand on that in due course. Bino's falls short with its sparse service. The waiting staff seem under-trained and the kitchen staff overworked. A couple of complaints in this vein would be the cordials not being stirred, the waitress not knowing the menu, and the chef not thoroughly washing the salad. The old couple at the next table weren't served their food at all and left saddened - though this plight was not suffered by my party directly, it is a grim thing to witness. Please note that this all took place on a bank holiday Monday so the staffing problem may be contained to this one occasion. The atmosphere of the bistro (incidentally, bistro stems from the Russian word "bistra" meaning fast - which shines an ironic light on the aforementioned service) is decent. Small and busy without feeling crowded, the big windows let the single room evoke a sense of roominess that its size should make impossible. The prices are varied and contain some very tasty seafood as well as pork, steak, pies and poultry for around £7.00, as well as this is the highly recommendable sea food platter for £15.00. One suggestion to the chef would be to have the mussels in the sea food platter served in a ramekin with a sauce. Whilst mussels scattered on the plate make for interesting presentation the same cannot be said for the flavour. The crab was divine though, kudos for that.

valpru176 Hi there,
I’ve just stumbled across your review for Bino’s Bistro so thought I’d write you a quick reply. I should explain that the place is being run by a friend of ours Bret the Chef, because I am poorly, busy having treatment and no longer involved in the business.
I don’t know if Bret has seen your review, but I will certainly make him aware of it and ask him to reply directly to you (if this is possible through Qype?) But I was disappointed to see you score Bino’s 3/5, we always did so much better! I hope that Bret will take on board the points you mention and improve the areas where Bino’s was found lacking. Glad you found some nice positives though. Best wishes, Alison
