The southdowns - Felpham

133 Felpham Way, Bognor Regis, West Sussex PO22 8QJ

09-04-2012 (updated on 18-05-2013)

Doing two mains and two drinks for a tenner, at the moment…BUT it does depend on whose cooking when you choose to eat. Can be good or can be rough. Thursday night doesn’t seem to be too risky!!

01/12/2012
We went in for a spot of lunch this afternoon. Very pleasantly surprised. Excellent range/choice of food. Ridiculously low prices, but excellent quality food and service. Cheesy Garlic Bread starters, half roast chicken with delicious chips, onions, toms and two impressive size Pepsis………£14.80!!! Can’t moan at that.
Spotlessly clean, top class toilets (maintained scrupulously), plenty of parking, smiles and laughter.
Big Thank you.

18/5/13
Have been back a couple of times since last review…and it’s just got better and better. Charming staff, the food was hot, tasty and we didn’t wait too long for it. New management who have our confidence and thanks,
Thank you for lovely afternoon today!!

Littlehampton Fish & Chips - Littlehampton

28-30 Beach Road, Littlehampton, West Sussex BN17 5HT

13-09-2011 (updated on 14-05-2013)

Fabulous “proper” chips here and really good fish, IF, and a BIG IF…. the boss is frying. If it’s left to underlings then its rubbish!!. Chips over done and fish is kept too long in the warmer making it hard and dry.
Eating in, then don’t expect a treat of a view!!!

14/01/2012 Cold, dreary weather today but popping in here for a late lunch we were soon warmed up. The Boss was frying today so we knew we would get good stuff….and we weren’t disappointed. Cor Blimey…great lunch!!

17/02/2012…..Yet another great lunch. Fabulous Haddock plus equally fabulous chips. It seems the underlings have learned from the Master. My compliments and thanks.
18/04/12….Back in here Bank Hols Easter Mon. The whole family loved it!! Great food. Thanks++++

02/06/12…….Can’t understand it….1 The governer was cooking on this day and it was rubbish. Smelt like the oil was burnt and tasted like it. The batter was dark and hard. Need to give it a miss for awhile

14/05/13……..Don’t go here!! New staff who try to overcharge you and take umbrage when you challenge them on the Maths skills….they don’t seem to be able to use the till!! They then try to swindle you out of the 10% Seniors offer, (when eating in)…and as for the food….NO! Batter far too greasy and chips far to dry!!! We shan’t bother any more…shame , used to be a good business.

Bobble71 Had a similar experience. East Street or River Road for me.

Bengal - East Preston

116 Downs Way, Littlehampton, West Sussex BN16 1AF

04-06-2011 (updated on 30-04-2013)

Can’t say I am overly impressed with this place, but they always seem to be busy. Visitors can be “crammed” in like cattle making it difficult to get around ie toilet etc. The food is average, the prices above average, the service and attitude below average.

13/4/13
Returned with very close friends who go here regularly. I was pleasantly surprised at the service and food. Was much improved since my last review…..the Special Bengal Biriyani was excellent. Would be willing to give it another try……

27/4/13
Back with same friends……table booked for 1915, but never got one until 1935. Drinks arrived sharpish, as did the pappadoms…..but that where the service ended!!! 50 minute wait for main course, which arrived at 2100hrs. No explanation offered and when questioned….." We are busy tonight with a birthday party"!!! Clearly, regular customers’ goodwill is put on hold when they’re busy with a one-off booking. Clearly, not enough staff to cope…hence poor service. Advise phoning first to see if they can cater for your needs…..!!

Beware this address...it shows Littlehampton, but is on the North-East side of same ie Angmering area.  Mind you, well worth the contact as you can be assured of first class advice and service.

Broadwater Gentle Dental - Worthing

19 Broadwater Street West, Worthing, West Sussex BN14 9DA

16-03-2012 (updated on 22-03-2013)

Was referred here by a friend. This practice appeared to be understanding in the effect of dental pain on people, and their fear of dentists’. My first visit was very positive and I came away satisfied that I had been listened to and that my treatment would be planned as I want it done.
Follow this review for updates.
One star reductioin because of the very long staircase to climb. Not for the faint hearted!!

I have used this dental surgery now for a year and couldn’t wish for better service.
Peter has now and been replaced by Joseph. In my view one of the best dentist I have ever had. He is from Spain, and both Lyn and I have always found a great service in Spain. Remains highly recommended.

Chips Inc - Goring-by-Sea

140 Aldsworth Avue, Goring-by-Sea, Worthing, West Sussex BN12 4UU

Thought I give this a try on the way through Worthing......well, you have to try them to be fair.
Could not rate poorly but there is some serious competition around and that compromises this rating.
Pleasant staff, but the ambience is cold and forebearing....(bit like waiting in a bus shelter)
Quite small portions given the higher price charged....Seniors Special is a £1 dearer than Worthing Fisheries and not as good.  I personally found the fish a little tasteles and skins were quite thick.

Chawton House Library - Alton

Chawton, Alton, Hampshire GU34 1SJ

22-02-2013

Just a lovely place to be.  So full of history relating to the Austen family........that completely overwhelms you, if you are receptive to such feelings.   It is a centre for Early Womens Writing covering a period from 1600 - 1830, and is open for visits and study.  Director of Development, Eleanor Marsden and her team have done a fantastic job.  Most people know of Jane Austen, but few understand the writers who influenced her and her writing. Chawton House also houses a farm that is run on an 18th Century  basis.  Not far from Jane Austen's House, which is also open as a museum.  It is open for garden tours,  conferences, study and relaxation.
Well worth a trip.....

Enjoyed our visit here on a recent trip.  Excellent food and well within your budget.  Welcoming atmosphere and you will not be short of a courteous, friendly and  warm greeting.  Thanks a bunch!!

Morrisons Supermarkets - Worthing - Worthing

Newland Road, Worthing, West Sussex BN11 1JU

17-02-2012 (updated on 17-01-2013)

Whilst I have become a Morrisons fan, I do have to agree with fellow Qyper Janavic in relation to disabled customers. I have struggled around this store with my grandaughter and her wheelchair……….really hard work!!! Understatement!!!! Aisles too narrow and, yet again, obstructed by laden static baskets of goods on sale making it nigh on impossible to get round. Not even the offer of help from staff members.
That aside, I do rate Morrison for some good quality food, sensibly sourced.

UPDATE 16/01/2013
Vast improvement since their makeover. Wider aisles, BRILLIANTLY displayed food, total freshness, fantastic fish and meat, beautiful bread….and the list goes on. A pleasure to be there.
Other supermarkets should take note!! The restaurant is superb, as is the food, staff, presentation, quality and taste. Excellent…! Can’t keep away now, but parking can be a bit hazardous!!

Milan - Shoreham-by-Sea

247 Upper Shoreham Road, Shoreham-by-Sea, West Sussex BN43 6BF

11-01-2013

Hadn't used this place for years...not since I was posted at the hospital nearby.  Was brilliant then and has lost none of its' sparkle and magic.  Though different owners, they made us very welcome and it was a real pleasure to be there.
Excellent food and such a choice.  I should try the Banguet nights....only £9.95 for starter, main and dessert plus nan....pretty good mark up.
Easy parking, near bus stop.......worth the trip.
Have a look at the website....great music!
