I love this store - I don't want to love it really, because it's a like an odd grubbier version of Ikea, with tacky jewellery. But it's just so convenient for buying homeware. I buy all my bedding from Argos, because they have fantastic deals on sheets and duvet sets, and you can get sets in so many different colours. They have fairly good prices on kitchenware, and furniture, and even just those little bits and pieces for your house that you keep thinking you need to get. If you don't know Argos, the procedure is, you can't browse instore; you simply browse their many instore catalogues, pick what you want, take the code to the checkout, pay for it, and wait for it to be brought out at the next counter. It's easier too, to go online on their website, and find what you want. You can even prebook your purchases so you can guarantee they'll be in stock for you within the next 48 hours at your chosen store. For all it's lack of style, Argos is very convenient indeed.

These stores have such lovely clothes, especially the dresses, although they are on the pricey side. But that would be acceptable, were it not for the service. No matter which store I go into, I find the staff to be frightfully unhelpful. I once found the perfect pair of trousers in one of their stores, but the length was a bit too short. I asked if they had a longer length size (as another style of their trousers did and I figured all their trousers would have the same sizing format). The first person I asked said they didn’t come in that length, and the second person sent me to another part of the shop to ask someone else. Finally I was sent to the person “who knew about these things”, only to be told that they didn’t make that style in that length. I asked if they were sure, but they said they definitely didn’t. I then spotted the trousers in the length I needed, on a nearby rack. “Oh!” they said, “They must have started making them then.” I mean, come on. This seems to be the consistently unhelpful level of service throughout their stores. They are not rude, just seemingly unaware of what they actually stock.
