Linens Direct - Harrow
23-25 St. Ann's Road, London HA1 1JU

This place is great if you’re looking to buy some curtains. The service could have been better, as the workers seemed slightly reluctant to serve us.
However, the service was quick, and a bonus was that, surprisingly, they offered a 10% student discount.
Bombay Brasserie - South Kensington

If you’re looking for posh indian food in a luxurious environment, this is the place to go.
It is expensive, and so I only go there for special occasions.
However, the staff are pleasant, the ambiance is good, and the food is of a very good standard.
I particularly enjoyed the paneer and the chicken dishes. The starters were also excellent, they were not too greasy.
It is great for a special night out, and is a place where you can take friends/family.
Waitrose - Whetstone
1305 High Road, Whetstone, London N20 9HX

I went to this Waitrose as I had to get something to eat in my lunch break.
I was surprised at their selection of goods. They had ready meals, sandwiches and even sushi.
Everything was stocked and the workers were helpful and very friendly.
However it is slightly pricey, in comparison to some other supermarkets.
Pizza Express - London

Pizza Express is another good chain for Italian food.
Although it is “Pizza Express”, I feel they should offer more pastas on the menu, as well as more vegetarian options.
As many of the cheeses used e.g. Parmesan cheese are not actually vegetarian, the options are restricted.
For starters, I have to say their doughballs with garlic butter are amazing and never fail to impress every time I have them.
Their pizzas are also of a good quality, but I would prefer a thicker crust instead of a flat base.
As with all other Italian restaurants (Prezzo, Ask etc), the prices are slightly higher than other cuisines.
Overall, this is a good place for pizza but I would like them to expand their menu.
The Griffin - Whetstone
1262 High Road, Whetstone, London N20 9HH

This place is great. People in the local firms often go there on a Friday afternoon.
There are a wide range of drinks on offer, aswell as a fantastic food menu. This ranges from burgers and steaks to healthy salads ad jacket potatoes. For sides, there are garlic bread and fries etc.
There is a very large garden at the back, which is great when the weather is good.
Prices are reasonable and service is good.
ASK - Whetstone

If you want to eat Italian out, one of the best chains is Ask. This particular Ask, like all of the other Ask’s I have been to, didn’t disappoint.
For starters, there is a wide selection ranging from salads, for a healthier option, to breads. I tried the garlic bread and mushroom salad. Both were excellent.
Then for mains, there are the usual pizzas and pastas. I had the Spaghetti al Pomodoro and asked them to add extra chillies for extra spice. This dish tasted really fresh and had the right balance of spicyness.
The service was good.
It is slightly on the expensive side, but for Italian food £6-£9 is the average price for a plate of pasta.
This sort of place is also spacious and would be ideal for parties and business lunches.
Rani - Finchley
7 Long Lane, Finchley, London N3 2PR
04-10-2008
After many of my friends recommended Rani’s I decided to try it for myself only to let myself in for disappointment.
It is not that the food was so inedible, but the fact that even with the 10% discount they offer on various days, the bill exceeded the satisfaction I got from the meal.
I found the starters too oily and fried. The three main courses that arrived at our table tasted exactly the same.
The service was satisfactory but not more than average.
This restaurant was an anti-climax, and although it was not the worst I have ever been to, I was definately somewhere towards the bottom of the list.
Chennai Dosa - London
Ealing Road, London HA0 4TA
04-10-2008
This place is great if you want something simple and really cheap. I wouldn’t say it is a 5* meal, but the prices are so low that you can’t really complain.
The restaurant is quite spacious, however it still gets busy on weekends evening.
There is a large range of dosa’s (pancakes with some sort of filling) to choose from and the service is quick.
