My brightest memory of this particular Somerfield is that of Pancake Tuesday on 16th of February 2010: the pancake mixes were flying off the shelves, the shop assistants could barely see them disappearing!
The store is fairly busy, with elderly people and students regularly popping in, and enjoys the competition from a grocery shop right opposite that sells fruit and veg. There is a good selection of magazines and newspapers, and I loved their choice of jams and marmalades. The advance of The Co-operative refurb is imminent, though, and one can only wonder if the street might just lose some of its character. We'll have to wait and see...
