Heritage theatre is a great place to go to if you don’t want to travel into town. Hillcrest is a nice little suburb away from the busy city and industrial areas. The theatre is an awesome addition to the Heritage Market and caters for families, friends and businesses who want to enjoy a fantastic meal whilst watching a fantastic show. Coming to the Heritage soon:
“Beauty and the B.E.E” 13-18 May, “Black Mamba” 8-13 July, “Michael Naicker” 15-20 July and many more!!

This theatre is definately a place worth visiting!! I have been to a couple of shows and i really enjoyed myself a lot…the shows are always top class and very entertaining! The best is that you can bring your own food to the theatre and enjoy the event without paying a fortune..Hollywood Rocks is on at the Barnyard from 22 Apr to 8 June 2008 and if you watch any show on a Tuesday or a Sunday, you get a discount on the tickets!! YAY :)
So there IS more to do at GATEWAY than just shopping.

The best Ice-cream for the best price!!!! Herberto’s is at the Heritage in Hillcrest, Durban. This little coffee shop is situated at the bottom of Heritage by the restaurants. It’s so nice to go there and have a muffin and cup of coffee after a LONG day of shopping. I only go there for the ice-cream though…my boyfriend and i tasted the Nougat Flavoured ice-cream one day and never turned back!! We have now made it a little tradition to go to the shop EVERYTIME he visits from Joburg…the ice-cream is definatley NOT a rip-off. If you ask for Nougat, you’ll get REAL pieces of Nougat in it…If you ask for Caramel and Cookies, you’ll get REAL cookies!!! Get What i’m saying??? Its actually ice-cream that you have to chew before swallowing, because of the yummy chunks of goodies inside. The ice-cream also comes in diabetic and is made with ‘fat free’ milk so everybody can enjoy it, no matter what. Do yourself a favour and visit Herberto’s next time you’re in Durban!!!! It’s worth every bite!!!!

Heritage in Hillcrest, previously known as the Heritage Market is a lovely little shopping and lifestyle market for people of all ages. From good food to good shopping and entertainment. Heritage has recently opened its SUPPER THEATRE for all to enjoy great entertainment. At night you can visit a variety of restaurants from Chinese to Indian Food, they have it all. If you are not keen to eat, but rather want to sip on a few cocktails (or whatever) then you can go to one of the pubs with your mates. I love going to the Heritage when they have a special event or display. The Bridal fair is on its way on the 24th of May 2008, for all those ‘brides to be.’ The bead shop and leather shop are 2 of my favorite places, but the ice-cream shop tops the lot…its the yummiest ice-cream you’ll ever taste for a reasonable price. Buy 1/2 a litre for R20, choose 2 flavours and enjoy!! Nougat and Caramel Cookies usually gets me going. Anyway, i am glad the Heritage is close to home, so i can go there whenever i want…YAY!!! :)

Gold Reef City is home to an amazing heritage of South Africa and it’s Gold mining history. If you are looking for something to do in Johannesburg and you love having fun, then Gold Reef should be on the top of your list!! I live in Durban and unfortunately we don’t have much of a Theme Park to boast about, so when i visit Joburg i make a point of visiting Gold Reef for it’s awesome rollercoasters and scary rides!! Gold Reef caters for anyone and everyone who loves an adventure…you can choose to explore the history behind it all, or just go for the fun rides. I LOVE the Golden Loop, Miner’s Revenge and Anaconda. I am yet to try the Tower of Terror, which apparently IS TERRIFYING!! There are over 30 rides to choose from!! If you are looking to stay over a couple of nights, you can choose to stay in the Protea Hotel or the Casino Hotel. (Yes, there’s a Casino at Gold Reef too…)
If you have children (or not), you can make your way to the circuis and enjoy the funny clowns and the awesome tricks on show. When walking through the CITY at GOLD REEF, you feel as if you have traveled back in time to the mining days and everything seems so real…i absolutely love the place, because i love history! I still have to go on the underground mine tour one day, because GOLD REEF is so big, that it is impossible to see and experience all it has to offer in one visit. You just HAVE to see the place!!

This place is TOP NOTCH!!!!
If you’re looking for a place to chill and eat the best African Food, then Moyo is the place to be!!! There are many other Moyo’s around South Africa, but i LOVE the one at Zoo Lake!!
You can sit outside on the grass or go on a mini boat ride down the Lake. When you start getting hungry, you grab a seat in the restaurant, on the deck or outside under the umbrellas. The deck is my favorite..you get to sit on big comfy couches whilst listening to relaxing african music and getting your face painted by the friendly African Ladies. When your meal is done and you’re extra full, you get to lay down on the couch and watch the sunset…no rush!! (unless the place is hired out for an event). I usually wait till rush hour traffic is over and then i make my way home. Downstairs you can buy some authentic african goodies, like jewelry or ART. I will ALWAYS return to MOYO for the best food and the best experience!!
