The Lakes Home Centre and Tea Room - Cockermouth
Low Road, Cockermouth, Cumbria CA13 0HH
19-01-2009
Recently acquired by Listers, this is a great “browse on a sunday afternoon” shop!
They have a very wide selection of products for the home including a well stocked garden centre.
The range of products includes kitchen products (pots and pans etc), fireplaces, soft furnishings and gifts.
They also have a nice little cafe on site so you cvan take a break in between shopping.
Prices are a little bit more than usual, but there isn’t much competition in the area!
Country Pine and Oak - Cockermouth
Lorton Street, Cockermouth, Cumbria CA13 9NG
19-01-2009
A broad selection of furniture in the rustic, country style.
Everyhting you can image - dining room tables and chairs, dressers, bed steads, bedside tables, coffee tables and much much more.
Displayed prices are quite high, but as an independent retailer they are willing to discuss price.
The products are high quality and will last a lifetime, worth a look if you like the rustic style.
Fellside Sports - Cockermouth
37 Market Place, Cockermouth, Cumbria CA13 9NF
19-01-2009
A specialist sports shops aimed at especially for sports enthusiats who love the lake district and fells.
Here you will find everything for the avid walker - boots, compas, waterproofs etc. Equipment for fell runners - specialist trainers etc, equipment for campers - wide selection of tents, stoves and general camping equipment and everything needed for climbing in the area.
They also sell a variety of maps and guidebooks - and staff are on hand to advise on both the best equipment and the local area.
There is also a selection of water based sports equipment.
Fruit Market - Cockermouth
12a Market Place, Cockermouth, Cumbria CA13 9NQ
19-01-2009
A great selection of fruit and vegetables at very reasonable prices.
The produce is very fresh and there is a good selection - you can get all the fruit and veg here that you would get at the supermarket and the prices are a fraction of what you would pay.
Worth bartering too. Staff are friendly and helpful.
Wilkinson Hardware Stores - Cockermouth
South Street, Lowther Went, Cockermouth, Cumbria CA13 9RT
19-01-2009
Wilkinsons is great in many ways - and the Cockermout branch is no exception.
I always think of Wilkinsons as the scaled down B&Q for those who don’t have a car - without Wilkinsons I don’t know how I would get any DIY done! They have all the basics - filler, paint, screws, nails, hammers, gardening stuff.
They also have home stuff such as plates and cups, cushions and throws, bedding and towels etc.
And they also sell obscure things such as curtain rails and sink plugs.
A great shop and everything is very reasonably priced.
Sainsburys Supermarkets - Cockermouth
43 Station Street, Cockermouth, Cumbria CA13 9GJ
19-01-2009
I like Sainsburys but this one is a bit limited. Space in the town was obviously at a premium when they built this Sainsburys, the selection in here is somewhat depleted.
The car park is terrible - it’s really difficult to park here at peak times (i.e Friday evenings/weekends) and the car park dosen’t seem to be very well monitored.
All this said however, depsite them not having the choice of the bigger stores, you can get some more unusual products here such as specialist olives, cheeses and breads. It’s the upper end of shopping!
Daisy Chain Florists - Cockermouth
33 Station stree, Cockermouth, Cumbria CA13 9QW
19-01-2009
A great little florists with a broad range of flowers.
They will make up bouquest to order and will do special arrangements for wedding etc.
They sell a wide range of pre-arranged bunches and displays at competitive prices.
They will also arrange flowers into a vase for you if you take the vase with you.
They arrangements are always good - definately worth going here rather than a supermarket!
Temple Sports - Cockermouth
8 Station Street, Cockermouth, Cumbria CA13 9QW
19-01-2009
This is a bit of an Aladdin’s cave - it looks like quite a small shop from the outside, but once you get inside the shop goes on and on.
They stock a wide selection of sports clothing for both men and women and have all the big brand names. The same goes for sports footwear.
They also stock a variety of sports equipment including tennis, football, gym, cricket equipment and much more.
Proces are average and the sales are good.
Jumper - Great Broughton
62 Main Street, Cockermouth, Cumbria CA13 0YL
19-01-2009
There aren’t many of this chain of stores left now. But if your feeling chilly this is the ideal place to go to grab somehting to wrap up in.
They sell all types of wooley products but mainly jumpers and cardigans.
They have all styles and colours, so don’t be put off by your initial perception - go in and have a root around.
Proces are average and the quality of the products is excellent.
Boots The Chemists - Cockermouth
56-58 Main Street, Cockermouth, Cumbria CA13 9LU
19-01-2009
A small branch of this large chain of chemists.
They stock all the usual types of products but with less choice of brands.
There is also a dispensing chemits and a photography shop here.
They have got everything required so if you need anything medical or require beauty products this is the place to go in the area.
