Wetherspoons - Carrickfergus

Typical Wetherspoons. Most food tastes microwaved, except burgers and steaks which are generally great.
The downstairs bar is full of old fellas most of the time, but it can get rough after evening time, especially at the weekend, and is infamous for fights which spill out into the street.
Despite that, the ‘family’ area upstairs is fine at any time, and the downstairs bar is generally good and relaxed early in the day, for lunch etc.

Great place to stop into for lunch. Quite small, so its packed on busy or sunny days. Prices are decent and service is good.
Would recommend.

Typical greasy spoon. Good quality food. Good prices. Nice family-run place.
Tesco - Carrickfergus
Minorca Place, Carrickfergus, Northern Ireland BT38 9AU

This is the recently built Tesco, which was converted about a year ago into a Tesco Extra (so its actually bigger now than in the picture on this site).
There are no faults with the place. The staff are friendly. The facilities are clean and modern. There is an onsite petrol station, taxi rank, pickup/setdown bays, cash machines and a bus stop which gets you on the Carrick town service.
Excellent.
Omniplex Carrickfergus - Carrickfergus

Generally an all-round average cinema. Screens are quite big and the seats are rather ergonomic and comfortable as cinemas go.
Prices are the usual for cinemas (currently £6 an adult ticket) and the food/snacks/drinks are at their usual sky-high price.
On weekends you'll usually find a load of kids hanging around outside for no apparent reason - you know, the kind of kids who stand around drinking energy drinks and pretending it's alcohol - but ignore them and you should have a good time.

Bar is excellent. Really good atmosphere and average priced drinks. Anyone who says there is often trouble at the bar is exaggerating. I've never seen trouble as the bar is one of the more friendly in the town. I recommend completely.
The restaurant is the reason the place can't be given five stars. The food is not very good, cooked from frozen and over priced. Simple as that.
But make sure to visit the bar.
