Undoubtedly the best venue of its type in the area. Decor is lived-in/avant-garde chic, notably white floors. Has spacious terrazza and occasional indoor wildlife. Wine served from 10am.

This place does everything it can to make you feel like you're really in a genuine French bistro - red check tablecloths, frogs legs and snails on the menu, pictures of ze Eiffel Tower (which I recognised from Ikea) and charmingly accented staff. Despite this blatant appeal to naff stereotypes, it actually sort of works. OK, I've never been to a restaurant that was this French-looking in actual France, but the food was genuinely great, and affordable, and the waiters were nice, and they didn't make a fuss about us turning up really late on Friday night or ordering tap water (as well as wine, of course!). In many ways, better than an actual French bistro.
