every time I have walked into this store i get all giddy inside and so happy to see things from home. Lets be honest, us Canadians are a rare breed in such a large city such as london, and since this world is catered to everyone else from all over the world its just so nice to walk into a familiar place and see such treasures as Oh Henry Bars, Reece Peanut Butter Cups, Sleeman Beer, Kraft Dinner, and Tim Hortons.
Yes, the stuff is bloody expensive, and it would be cheaper to get someone from home to actually buy you some stuff and send it over for you. But, if you are from my part of the world, and have been away from home for such a long period of time, then it is well worth it to pop in and pick up some familiar things we have grown up enjoying so very fondly.

Roma Bakery has been in operation in the Hamilton area for over 60 years and everyone knows of it if you have grown up in our working class town.
As a child I have become infatuated with their plain pizza, which has become the taste of home. I have been away from home for years, and it is the only thing I crave from home for some reason. Other travelers I have met miss their Vegemite or Ghost Pops, but for me, its their pizza.
I am a person who can eat an obscene amount of food, at the same rate of a person suffering from obesity, and their pizza is always the one thing that can fill my void when it comes to hunger.
The pizza is so simple, yet so incredible. Some say its not even pizza, which I can understand, but it is. The pizza everyone always eats in our city and the surrounding areas is their plain pizza, which is simply bread with sauce on it. You can get pizza with cheese and meat on it, but for some reason, the plain choice is the most popular for the hungry citizens. The pizza is so popular you can purchase it fresh at every major supermarket at home, and every school child in Hamilton has had a slice of it as their special lunch meal.
If you are ever in Hamilton or the surrounding area, do yourself a favour and please purchase yourself some of this pizza which dances in your mouth because of their incredible flavours and fresh ingredients. I would consider this pizza as the cities unofficial meal.

This restaurant is an establishment in the East End of Hamilton for years, even though it is a Flintstone’s themed restaurant with outdated decor.
Besides the tacky furniture, old toys, and constant loop of Flintstone episodes while you eat, I think people who have eaten here have a soft place in their heart for it because of their food.
Of course, a place like this wont serve your gourmet food, but what they do serve you is a massive amount of greasy, yet delicious, food at a reasonable price. Sundays and Saturdays must be their busiest days of the week because people in search of a good cure for a hang over line up to be served their fix. I have personally waited something stupid like 30 mins to be seated on a weekend, so that must mean they are doing something right.
This place has made a name for themselves on their breakfasts, which are my favourite by far. I ALWAYS eat Fred’s Feast, it could be 7pm and i will always eat their breakfast, because its just that good. My memory on the details of the breakfast are a little faint at this moment because ive been away from home for a few years, but you receive a dino sized meal for a good price, somewhere around $6.50. I can remember being absolutley stuffed with eggs, sausage, bacon, ham, toast, and homefries - which are astounding.
If you are ever in the area and in need for a massive portion of food for a reasonable price and you are one who can over look the decor and the shabby servers, then come here and enjoy a breakfast. I know I will be enjoying the Fred’s Feast when I go home.

This restaurant really plays with your senses. Your sense of sight is on overload when you are walking up this place from the street, because it is the brightest building in the area, so it is very hard to miss. As well, once inside, the bright pinks, greens, yellows and lets not forget the Luchador masks, are quite the sight.
Your ears are in for a party because the place is very busy, and very loud, which is always a good thing for business, showing they must be doing something right.
Finally, and most importantly, your mouth, which is in for a fiesta with flavour. I had a pork burrito, and at first glance, i thought a burrito could not fill a man of my size, but it is surprisingly filling, considering i eat like a person suffering from obesity or tape worms. The pork was soft and juicy, the medium heat brown/black bean sauce (pardon my lack of culinary terminology) was incredible. Furthermore, the cafeteria experience, lining up and receiving food like a child receiving a school dinner, is quite fun.
Overall, the price is about right for the quality of meal, and if i am ever in the area of this wonderful establishment, i will allow my senses to have another experience in flavour country.

If you love music or film and are a thrifty person looking for a unique experience, this is the place for you!
This is a place that can totally make you glad you are in london for a short or long period of time because the experience is terrific.
The academy of music offers FREE concerts every once in a while for the public to attend and the performers are TEENAGERS. They are very gifted individuals capable of producing beautiful music. The theatre/hall is in itself a museum of sorts because it is full of brilliant portraits of incredible musicians who have attended this prestigious academy. accompanying the art work is chandeliers that were remarkable which created a sophisticated element to the venue.
I recommend this event for 3 reasons: 1) if you love music, such as myself, you really should get out to a symphony and experience it live. the way the conductor moves and how the musicians follow his leads are incredible and very entertaining. being at a symphony is something i didnt think i would enjoy before, i thought attending rock concerts was enough for me, but this is something you need to see for yourself. 2) if you are a movie buff, you will like this because you feel like your in a movie! the venue and the music played made me think of too many films, and i felt like i was in them! from jaws, lord of the rings, indiana jones and star wars all popped into my head and made my appreciate films and musical performances even more. 3) if your cheap, like me, what else could you ask for? this is FREE!!
i cant stress it enough how fantastic this is, because these are teenagers afterall producing beautiful sounds in a disciplined manner.
