The Spice Well - Plymouth

17 Buckwell Street, Plymouth PL1 2DA

29-03-2011

We have been here twice now over the last 2 months, cosy little place which is quite nicely decorated.

On both occasions the food was beautiful, fresh & really tasty. Im not a curry lover so always go for the korma's/Masala's, here i had some sort of lamb with mango masala which was delish! The nan breads were also to die for. The deserts were nothing special, just those sorts that are plucked direct from the freezer into a bowl - But then i dont expect gourmet deserts from an Indian.

The manager/owner is really friendly and really looks after you, ensuring everything is going well with your meal without being in your face

Also found the prices really reasonable - much along the same lines that you would pay or a takeaway

I dont think you could be dissappointed with a visit here

Fortune Court Chinese Restaurant - Plymouth

9 Tin Lane, Plymouth PL4 0AD

28-03-2011

We went here at the w/e and what a fab wee place it is. We were a group of 14 and everyone of us loved it. The food is fab & fresh & very reasonable.

The cost was £15.xx per head(cheaper on weekdays), and for starters we picked 6/7 dishes, and if we wanted we could then order more. We chose to go on to mains where we done the same picked 6 dishes, plus rice/ noodles but there was so much on offer we really didnt need to pick more.

The restaurant itself in nothing flash, but the food more than makes up for it!! And so much better than the help yourself buffets that have sprung up all over town

Pappadum Indian Takeaway - Plymouth

427 Crownhill Road, Plymouth PL5 2LJ

01-02-2009

This is a cracking wee takeaway, with lovely tucker!!

We usually get our dinner from here every other Saturday. There is free delivery within 4 miles on orders over £10 - open every day from 5.30pm -11.30pm. Prices are very reasonable

Lamb tikka masala is gorgeous from here - hubby loves the vindaloo, but will take his word for that. Also love the onion bhaji’s, but be warned you get 4 massive bhaji’s with salad and sauce - you cant do mains after eating that … we normally share!

Delivery is usually at your door in 20-30 mins

No cards or cheques are accepted here - only cash

Goblin Coombe Farm - Redhill

Winters Lane, Bristol BS40 5SW

01-02-2009

This farm is located 2 minutes from Bristol International airport - We use it everytime we fly from there, fab service & excellent prices, half the price of on site parking. You have a choice of covered or un-covered parking

Its very easy to find & there are pdf instructions on the website whether your comimg from north or south of the airport

I think the bloke that runs it is called Roger - Really nice guy, you just give him a ring when you arrive & have your baggage and he is usually there waiting for you by the time you get to the drop off/pick up car park

Excellent place which i would have no qualms in recommending

Exeter Street Service Station - Plymouth

77-79 Exeter Street, Plymouth PL4 0AH

29-01-2009

I think this station could easily be the busiest station in Plymouth. It is located on the main route in and out of the city

Always bustling with cars topping up - so much so the queues are often backed up out on to the main road

Has quite a big store with a well stocked range of products including alcohol/off license which is only sold within licensing hours.

Also has a lottery terminal & stocks a range of the usual flowers etc. has no air pump or hoover, but does have water available.

This is an Esso - so prices are generally higher than the supermarkets pumps (nearest one being about 3 miles down the road in sainsburys)

Milehouse Service Station - Plymouth

Wolseley Road, Plymouth PL2 3BP

29-01-2009

A very busy Esso station located on a busy roundabout. Its always bustling with cars - has around 10 pumps available. Used to have an air pump available but has not been working on the last few occasions i have been looking to use it

Has quite a big store with a good range of stock - overpriced as per most petrol stations - but i think we have all come to expect this. Also sell flowers, charcoal, newspapers & a selection of fresh bread and milk

There are 2 pay stations - but only usually one persone serving so quite often there are queues.

Petrol is reasonably priced - always 1 or 2 pence above the supermarket rates

Paignton Zoo - Paignton

Totnes Road, Paignton TQ4 7EU

28-01-2009

If your visiting this end of the country, would really suggest you set aside a day for a visit here - really is a great day out

They have a fantastic array of different animals… as you would expect from a zoo… i guess!! dohhh But the park is laid out very well and everything is signposted clearly - so easy to find everything

I cant wait for the better weather to come to pay a visit - Unfortunately they lost their giraffes in a fire a few years ago - but they have now replaced them - cant wait to see the new additions soon!

Be warned the zoo is very hilly & involves a lot of walking to get around and see everything. But equally there are lots of places to sit around for a rest or picnic

Tesco Stores - Plymouth

2 Woolwell Cresent, Plymouth PL6 7RF

18-01-2009 (updated on 28-01-2009)

Massive 'Extra’ store with everything you could need under one roof(2 floors of it). Always lots of manned tills so no problems with queues. Also has a separate Clothes & Electrical desk on the upper floor.

Cafe is nice with a mean breakfast @ normal reasonable tesco prices - Although seems to close quite early most days. around 3-4 pm

I always have trouble getting baby parking spaces out here, although there are quite a few - must be a lot of families shop out there. And all the other spaces are quite small so really struggle with getting the baby seat in and out of the car

Post Office - Plymouth

5 St. Andrews Cross, Plymouth PL1 2DG

18-01-2009 (updated on 28-01-2009)

Biggest Post office in the city centre (only other one being in Derrys dept store down at the bottom of town) Lots of desks with usually lots manned. Queues can look a bit daunting on entry - but they usually get through them fast. Though on pension/giro day you can wait upto 20 minutes

Also has foreign exchange & stationary shop selling cards/stationary etc. Separate lottery terminal is available away from the post office counters which means not so hefty queues

Full Post Offices services at this branch & staff are generally quite helpful. No specific parking, only local pay & display multi-storeys

The Union Rooms - Plymouth

19 Union Street, Plymouth PL1 2SU

18-01-2009 (updated on 28-01-2009)

Huge place - used to be the BMW show showrooms. Both upstairs & downstairs, also has a beer garden for better weather which is nice & well maintained. Has separate family areas avalable

Depending on when you go, service can be a bit slow, massive long bar, but not always staffed up as it should be . Food is very hit & miss but reasonable in price - the usual Weatherspoons offers being available

Id say stay away in the evening if you are looking for somewhere to take the family. This is located on Union street which is Plymouths clubland & as such gets quite busy & fairly rowdy. You also have to pay to get in here in fri/sat nights
