The work that goes on here is fantastic. A Catholic run chairty based hospice for the sick and dying, they provide the highest standard of care with dignity and warmth for their patients. Its is a wonderful place and the staff there are marvellous, doidng such a difficult job so well. Some patients stay here for months, and they care not only for the sick but look after the whole family. They make all visitors very welcome and keep you informed of the progress. Its not at all gloomy and depressing. The buildings are in the middle of wonderful woodlands and they have lovely fun events such as a tedy bears picninc, summer fair, midnight walk, and a Light up a Life rememberence service every Christmas.

This place is like a tiny little version of a Halfords shop, only a lot cheaper! They sell all kinds of parts for motor vechiles, anything from a bulb or fuse to a new clutch. They can order in any part from any car, it usually only takes a day or two and they will ring you when its ready. Really competitive prices. They ahve excellent knowledge and can suggest what might be the problem etc when your car breaks down, without sounding patronising, and they dont make you buy things that you dont need! It is a counter service so there’s no browsing, but then that’s not really what you would want in a shop like this anyway.

Even if your not looking to buy a fancy cake, if you have no intention of getting married, and like to forget your birthdays rather than celebrate them, its still worth taking a look in Davids window. His cakes are pure works of art. He has been a master acke maker in this little shop for about twenty years now, and I never tire of marvelling at his latest creations in the window. He produces five fight high sculptures of buildings, life size caricatures of celebrities, comic book figures, figurines from your favourite photograph. Anything is possible in this shop. David has made cakes for Posh and Becks, the Queen, and every local event there is. You must visit.

The address is the owner’s home address as this company do not have a showroom. he will be more than willing however to show your round his own little palace to see his wood floors insiitu, should you wish. Otherwise, he will show you samples of wood and photos of finished rooms. he does all kinds of solid wood fkoors, reclaimed timbers, polished floorboards, parquet flooring. But be warned, he has a hatred of all things laminated so do not ask him to you fake wood laminated floors, he will not be happy! John is an excellent craftsman, he treats the wood with care, and takes great pride in his work, making sure every detail is right, No cutting corners here. He will give you strict instructions on aftercare and ban you from wearing high heels in your own home to preserve the floor! Recommended.

This is a large double fronted building on the corner of crown buildings, right by the traffic lights so its not far from the car park. Like all travel agents it has loads of flyers up advertising all kinds of fantastic deals for last minute holidays, or to book early for next year etc. So why is it that when you go and actually sit down with a customer service rep and they go through all the options on the computer, the great deal on the window has gone and you end up paying considerably more? To be fair, its not just this travel agent that does this though, it seems widespread in the industry. But the staff here are helpful enough, theres no pressure, and there is a bureau de change in the store as well.

This take away is always really busy, especially early evening on a Friday and Saturday when its 'chippy tea’ night for the whole family! They do a wide selection of take away foods, english fish and chips, greek kebabs, pizza, burgers, chinese meals… the list is endless, so the whole family can have a different kind of meal. Their food is spot on, the chips are always fresh tasting and not greasy, their chinese emals are always tasty too and dont contain to much msg, or at least dont taste of it. The wait in the queue passes quite quickly, although its a little longer if youre ordering a chinese meal, but you can always ring your order in advance if your impatient!

Traditional family butchers in Crosby Village. Its been there for years and is run by the same three brothers. They are all very friendly and like to have a laugh and a joke with all their customers. They have little touches such as a chair to sit for their elderly customers, and they know all the regulars by name. Ive even been offered a cup of tea when Ive gone in, and they all wave madly when you walk past the shop! The meat is top notch, their steak is fantastic, and their joint of lamb. We always get a turkey from them at Christmas as the quality is much than any supermarket. Their prices are a little bit more than the supermarket, but its worth it for a special treat every week or so.

Beauty salon and hairdressers, this place always seems a bit initmidating to me, its run by very glamourous mature ladies who all have perect make up and hair and i awlays feel inadequate when I go in with messy hair and chipped nail varnish! They are friendly but in a feeling sory for you kind of way! They offer lots of treatments such as different types of massages, all with very technical yet beautiful names, and they sell a wide range of lotions and potions, which they will try and sell to you so beware, they are not cheap! And they will tell you that you definately need at least six different products! Not a good place if you are watching the purse strings!

Large local estate agents, one of a couple in the Sefton area I think. I have rented propeties out through their letting scheme. They are always very efficient, ring back when they say they will, and are courteous and reasonable in their customer service. They will do all the vetting of tenants, show them round properties for you, collect the rents, sort out repairs and any problems, and can gernerally be trusted to get on with the job should you wish to have minimal input into the tenancy. They market in the local paper the Crosby Herald, both for sale and to let. Recommended.

This vets surgery is not easy to find - if you drive down the Mews off Crosby Road North, you have to turn left just past the row of Garages and its is hidden behind here. It does have a car park, but at busy periods it can be hard to get a space, and as the lanes are very narrow you may get stuck and need to reverse out if another car is trying to get out. The suregry itself is fine, the receoption area has been refurbished and is a lot brighter and less shabby than before. The vets are all very good, very interested and attentive to your pet, and very approachable. Recommended.
