I Adore My Home - Stockton-on-Tees
Harper Parade Shops, Stockton-on-Tees
11-02-2012
(updated on 12-04-2012)
Adore My Home is a new shop on Harper Parade Shops. It sells things such as cushions, pretty things for the home, things to hang up. If you wanted a present between £10 and £20 then this would be an ideal shop to look around. As a male I cannot really give any more details because we dont understand this sort of thing.
I think the shop is great and just what Hartburn needs but have a look round and see if you like it – don’t just take my word for it.
I should point out that I receive no benefit from giving this review I honestly like the shop.
MPW King's Road Steakhouse and Grill - Chelsea

Went there on Friday night 6.30 without booking.
Had gravadlax – slices of salmon with a hint of hebs for the starter, steak and large chips for main and Eton Mess dessert. Glass of wine and bottle of water £67 in total – ouch.
Food is fine although there was no sauce with thsteak and chips so chips were bland and more like roasts.
Service was good but was a little rushed. Wine incl above was £9 a large glass.

I have been here maybe 10 times for lunch.
The beer is fantastic and a large selection of quality beers.
Lunch is even better for under £10 a head for a main course.
I will keep returning here. It is excellent.

I had chicken Milanese. Breadcrumbed chicken on mash. £11.80. OK but expensive.
Amoretti cheesecake was great £4.95.
My daughter had antipasti. Two hams 5 small tomatoes and a little bread. Not brilliany.
She had some sort of chocolate dessert.
Food OK. Would have liked some more. Prices too high.
The waiter called me brother and my daughter love. He said sweet a lot meaning I think OK. We were also referred to as guys a lot. Perhaps the waiters should spend more time discussing the food with you than acting cool and trendy it might have been better.
I like the restaurant but would prefer an italian or waiters who give a damn.

Went there on Tuesday before going to the theatre. The mean was great and cost £68 including drinks £8.
I had prawn cocktail which was better than most I have has and my daughter and I had fillet and sirloin steaks which were the best we had had for a longtime.
Considering the number of peolpe in the restaurant this was fantastic. As we sat down 10 couples came in within 10 minutes and they coped well.
Would certainly go again. Waiter was foreign (arent they all) he could have smiled a bit more.

How many legs has an Onglet?
Visited Foxtrot Oscar on Monday Night for dinner. Cost £126 for two including wine £21, Bellini £9, Gin and Tonic £7, service charge £14. Water £4. Food is £71!
Starter. I had Smoked Salmon. Came as slices on a plate with a small blob of Creme Frainche. My daughter had Caesar Salad. 7/10.
Main Course. Onglet. Yes I wondered what it was too. Steak why not call it that on the menu and put Onglet in brackets? There was also the word poutine on the menu – still to look it up. The steak was nice enough with some chunky chips. My daughter had belly pork. 7.5/10
Dessert – I had crumble and this was good with cream. 8/10.
If you are picky. Ice cubes in gin and tonic too big or glass to small. Restaurant toilets downstairs and almost in kitchen. Waitress nice girl but kept asking if food was OK. Could do with more choice on menu. Overpriced – steak as good at Aberdeen Steak House sorry. Creme fraiche did not go with salmon. However we enjoyed the experience.
Coffee not good – perhaps too strong.
To sum up. Not bad but not exciting. Staff friendly. Would go again.

4 of us visited the pub last Friday for a meal.
Starter we had were , prawn cocktail with crab, and mushrooms on toast. They were good and would be worth a 6/10.
Main couses were scampi, beef casserole and dumplings and a burger of some sort. They get a 6/10.
The food is good and reasonably priced but maybe not exceptional but then its only pub food.
The place itself is recently refurbished and my only problem with it is its too large and too open by which I mean its like eating in a waiting room. Also there was no heating on and two of us were cold.
The staff could be friendlier. The waitresses tended to plonk the food in front of you and basically not speak to you at all. The person on the till could be a little more welcoming.
Generally a good meal but staff need some more training perhaps. Its maybe because they are young and unused to speaking to strangers!
So nothing much wrong with the food but room for improvement. Why not give it a try.
Cafe Lilli - Norton

Visited Cafe Lilli on the Friday luchtime before Christmas. The staff are friendly and service is good and the food we had was great.
We arrived for our staff Christmas Dinner and had a table by the door. We were unsure what was available to eat. There were items listed on the wall but turned out to be sandwiches! The lunchtime menu was a single slightly stained piece of A4 paper. The statrters were Ok but the main courses weren’t what we were hoping for!
I had the mackerel starter which was very good. We asked if they did steaks and they said they did! The steak I had was excellent. We had a dessert of creme brulee which was good.
We had plenty to eat and drink and for 4 of us it was £200 but that included 9 peronis and two bottles of wine.
I would certainly go again but I wish they would improve the menu! So we knew what was available!
Miller & Carter Albert Dock - Liverpool

I visited M & C on Tuesday 20th December 2011.
I had a prawn cocktail for starter in the hope that one day I would get a good one. The prawns were better than expected, the iceberg lettuce as boring as ever. The bread with it was unusual a hollowed out baguette I would say ie no bread just crust. The butter was as hard as nails so would not spread. Why do they do that?
The main course was 8oz sirloin steak which came with chips/fries and salad.
The salad was a section of iceberg lettuce (size of an apple) with either mayonnaise or salad dressing squirted on it with something like smoky ham strips. This was horrible and I only tasted it. What the chef was doing I don’t know.
The steak however was possibly the best steak I have had for years and the chips/fries were good enough.
The waitress unfortunately had no personality but served me well.
Cost of above £32.60 including a bottle of Bud (Yuk – poor choices on offer) and a glass of good red wine.
Had I just had the steak and chips and wine I would have given it nearly 5 stars. The salad was a complete disaster.
THE BLUE BELLS - Newton Bewley

Called in for a quick bite and a pint. The pub has been done out beautifully by the new owners. It is modern with a fresh feel. Staff are friendly too which is not always the case in pubs!
Had a steak pie with chips and veg and a pint of Carling – £12.
The steak pie was great – it actually had a load of beef in it. Chips were proper chips and the veg (courgettes, mange touts and carrots) – crisp and tasty.
Couldn’t eat a dessert as I was full but will certainly go back there – it was great. They also do starters and desserts. A good menu – reasonably priced.
And the lager was good too. They sell a good selection of beers too but as I was going back to work I did not drink any more.
A refreshing change.
