I took one of the first Catalan Cooking classes and was apprehensive as I hadn’t attended many cookery classes before and wasn’t sure what to expect. Specifically I was worried I’d just end up observing some kind of demo, as I really wanted to get stuck in myself.

However, I needn’t have worried, as Rachel McCormack’s approach is to let the students do the work whilst making it feel like a genuine pleasure – and that kind of teaching takes some real skill.

The class was fun and relaxed; we were given clear and warm instructions throughout and she told us lots of interesting stories and facts about Catalan cuisine and the region generally.

We were also lucky enough to have an expert from Bibendum there who took us through a Cava tasting (Cava being a Catalan wine).

The most important thing for me (apart from learning a thing or two) was there was lots to eat all the way through as well as a group meal at the end.

I loved the whole class and I would definitely recommend it.
