Paradise Island - Burnley

18-22 Bull Street, Halstead House, Burnley, Lancashire BB11 1DW

17-01-2009

haha… I have many fond memorys of this place. it’s great and gets very full but they have some good music and cheap drinks. the toilets arent the best and the last time i was in there they were still up a filght of stairs (which after a few are best avoided). this place unknown to me for many years turns into a sort of cafe in the daytime a bit strange being in there sober but the food was nice.

Inn On Wharf - Burnley

Manchester Road, Burnley, Lancashire BB11 1JG

17-01-2009

I went for Christmas dinner (one before last). We paid about £60 a head (possibly more) and about £30 for my son (who at the time was 1 and barely ate a thing!!) I can’t speak for other times of the year but I would not recommend eating here for special occasions. They didn’t have a clue who ordered what the food was awful and the service almost none existent basically we paid a lot of money for something that would have been nicer had we bought it from a station cafe. OH… and despite having booked in advance with plenty of notice - they didn’t have everything on the menu.

Yates Wine Lodge - Burnley

18 St James Street, Parker Lane, Burnley, Lancashire BB11 1NG

This was a regular haunt of mine in my college days but it has now closed and is a real eye sore slap bang middle of the town center!!! The windows are all boarded up and it looks terrible giving off a terrible first impression of the town.

Parish Church of St. Ann - Manchester

St. Ann Street, Manchester, Greater Manchester M2 7LF

30-11-2008

This parish is beautiful. They hold Taizé Prayers and Prayers for Healing. Quiet service which is a great time to collect your thoughts and really connect with yourself and god, is held on Mondays at 1pm They do new home blessings, baptism and of course weddings. They also do funerals. The clergy are wonderfully friendly and welcoming. On Saturday they have a lovely cafe where you can pick up a fair trade tea/coffee. They hold mothers union meetings where everyone is welcome. They have a fantastic choir which often welcomes new members.

Oh and barbers and hairdressers banks and oooh just outside there is a fantastic bag shop sells gorgeous designer bags! JJB and um that other sports shop think its JD? New Bilash Balti House - Manchester

555 Bolton Road, Pendlebury Swinton, Manchester, Greater Manchester M27 8QT

14-11-2008 (updated on 20-11-2008)

My in-laws probably spend far too much time at this place but I can understand why.
It’s well know in swinton for being a great place for grabbing a good curry.
The staff are friendly and the food is gorgeous.
When I was pregnant I had to restrain myself bacause I kept craving their chicken tika massala.
If you want a good curry eat in or take away then give this place a try.
The staff are very friendly and the price is great.
The portions are way too big for me but they always pack it up for me and I take it home to eat later haha.
This is a great place the only down side is that the toilets are downstairs which can be a bit tricky once you have had a few drinks haha.

Piccadilly Amusements - Manchester

Piccadilly Plaza, Manchester, Greater Manchester M1 3AN

I’m a total sucker for flashing lights and there is plenty in this place. Right across from my bus stop I find myself “popping” in here often when waiting for the bus. Trouble is there is so many machines to play on I find it hard to drag myself away!! The staff are kind and helpfull but most of them dont have very good english… a smile all the same. Once when I was pregnant and needed the loo (as you do quite often) their toilet was out of order and so they let me use the staff toilet (i thought that was very nice of them).

imumba Total sucker for flashing lights! lol

christmas market - Manchester

Albert Square, Manchester, Greater Manchester M2 5PE

19-11-2008

Oh I’m so excited for the markets this year. Last year they were fantastic. They are kind of like snow - when it finally arrives and you feel the cold wind on your cheeks you know Christmas is here again and your inner child lets out a great big yeeha as you reminisce about the years gone by. All the lights look so sparkly and lovely and the laughing smiling faces everywhere are a perfect addition to the fantastic stalls. You can get some great stuff here but even if you don’t fancy buying still get your mittens out and have a gander.

Ann Summers - Manchester

29 Market Street, Manchester, Greater Manchester M1 1WR

15-11-2008

Ann summers is great unlike others of its type usually mail order or internet, you can see things before you buy. You can have a good look at all the toys and the staff will show you all the different functions. you can try the outfits on etc and you can buy everything you could want to give you a great night in… together or alone. its a bit on the pricey side and other shops like this might be cheaper but i think they are dark and sleazey!

Millie's Cookies - Manchester

60 Lower Mkt Hall, Manchester, Greater Manchester M21 9UN

15-11-2008

Never had a cookie as good as a millies one and its hard to walk by with out buying one.
They are delicious and have so many different ones.
The only downside is the price and the fact you have to buy so many for them to be cheap.
